You are Guaranteed to receive a very warm Welsh welcome at the family orientated Hobby Horse Inn.
The Hobby Horse Inn in Brynmawr nestles in the heart of the South Wales Valleys, where the proprietors, Mark and Julie Seaward, deftly balance the running of a busy restaurant and popular free-house.
We are open all year and advance booking is strongly recommended, particularly during the holiday periods. Many guests are return visitors, and children are always welcome.
The bar is a popular watering hole for locals as well as visitors. Sample something from our well stocked bar, including traditional ales and malt whiskies, before taking lunch or dinner in the lounge or restaurant. See our entry in 'The Good Beer Guide 2007'.
We can tempt you with a wide choice of carefully prepared home cooked meals, and to compliment your meal there is an excellent wine list. Sunday lunch is something of a local tradition at The Hobby Horse Inn and early reservations are advisable. Our restaurant has disabled access.
If you want to stay a little longer we also offer bed and breakfast at competitive prices. Stay in either our family en-suite room which sleeps three people, or our twin room with private bathroom. The bedrooms are fully furnished with full central heating, TV and tea making facilities.
There is always something going on at The Hobby Horse Inn. We have Sky Sports and Premiership Plus. The local caving club meets here on the first Monday of the month and we hold a regular quiz on Thursday night. We also hold regular themed nights to support local charities.

The Hobby Horse Inn is the gateway to the many places of interest that South Wales has to offer. Why not try a round of golf at the local West Mon course, which boasts the highest tee in Britain. Our close proximity to the Brecon Beacons National Park and Black mountains offer the potential for tremendous hill walking.
The ancient market town of Abergavenny is only 7 miles away. Closer is Ebbw Vale, once steeped in steel making, but now the home of the Festival Park Shopping Outlet, with many designer label shops selling goods at greatly discounted prices.
Just 5 miles away is Blaenafon, which has recently been designated a ‘World Heritage Site’. At Blaenafon you can visit the Big Pit Mining Museum, Steam Railway, historic iron works and the Blaenafon town centre , which has reinvented itself as a ‘Book Town’ and aims to rival Hay-on-Wye one day.
