//- CHARACTER PROFILE.

Naruto Manga Chapters 239-244. Is a side-story by Masashi Kishimoto, that tells of Kakashi's promotion to Jounin and how he received his Sharingan. These chapters are some of the most important memories that influence Kakashi as he is known today. Uchiha Obito changed Kakashi's perspective and way of life. Obito's death is one of Kakashi's greatest regrets. Prior to Obito's impact on his life, Kakashi was rather insensitive, stubborn and quite uptight. Their Sensei, Namikaze Minato (Yondaime Hokage), pointed out that the reason why Kakashi was like that, was because of the incident concerning his father, Hatake Sakumo. He was revered amongst the villagers even to the level of the Sannin, but because he chose to abandon his mission to save his friends, Sakumo was disgraced. He lost his will and committed senpeku. For this reason, Kakashi began his stubborn insistence that the Shinobi rules and regulations must be upheld and their missions are the number one priority above all else.

//- BACKGROUND and PERSONALITY.

Kakashi is a man of mystery. He prefers not to recount or disclose his past openly. He's almost always seen wearing a mask covering the lower half of his face. There are only a handful of images in rotation portraying Kakashi without a mask, however, none of them reveal anything more than his cheek. He always seems to have something covering his nose and mouth, be it his hand, a washcloth or even a book.

One of the most prominent traits of his personality is that he is always late, which he adapted from Obito. Kakashi may outwardly seem easy going and care-free, but he's also very reliable and he cares deeply for his nakama. However, those he considered "closest" to him, he stated are already dead.

He has a strong obsession with Romance Novels, particularly the Icha-Icha series written by Jiraiya. Even with the transition from Naruto to Naruto: Shippūden, Kakashi's character remains unaltered. But there is one small, somewhat insignificant difference: the color of the book he carries is no longer red/orange, it's now green.

//- ABILITIES.

Kakashi's most famous technique is Raikiri, which is considered a higher ranking jutsu than Chidori - the original version. Through his Sharingan, Kakashi is capable of using a variety of jutsu's, even consecutively, regardless of their elemental properties. His latest technique involves his version of the Mangekyou Sharingan. It's a space/time jutsu where Kakashi focuses at a target location and opens a portal to a different dimension (kind of like a black hole). Whatever lies within the radius of his technique at the moment he closes it, gets sent to another dimension. (It resembles Nova's ability from Bleach, one of Urahara Kisuke's Kaizō Konpaku which accompanied Yasutora Sado, Chad).

The Sharingan enables Kakashi to understand and copy his enemy's techniques. This particular ability earned him the titles "Kakashi the Copy Ninja" and "Sharingan Kakashi." Momochi Zabuza recalled that in his Bingo Book, it stated that Kakashi had copied over 1000 techniques.
