Even though right now on a map you see that Quebec is higher drawn than Ontario, why do you think they called Quebec Lower Canada and why do you think they called Ontario Upper Canada. I will now tell you. The reason why they called Queebec Lower Canada and Ontario Upper Canada was because of the land elevation. Quebec's (Lower Canada) land elevation was was lower than Ontario's (Upper Canada) land elevation which is was higher than Quebec's land elevation.
Lower Canada had a large population increase compared to Upper Canada's population. Lower Canada's Population first started out as 250 000 and then went all the way to 717 000 people! WOW! That was an extremely large population increase for Lower Canada. How did the population get so high? Well you're about to find out
. The reason why Lower Canada's population got so high was because of the high birth rate they had among the french speaking people who lived in Lower Canada in that area. They Practically had a population EXPLOSION!
