This website was created to share ideas about historical displays, doll accessory storage, and resources for fellow doll and antique miniature collectors. It is my little place to display my dollie land (what I call my doll displays) for other collectors, family and friends and to offer some tips and information I've accumulated over the years.
The website hosts three types of information:
First, there is crafting and buying resources. This includes various resources I've found over the years for antique and AG historical doll displays.
I offer hand-crafted vintage reproduction miniatures and antique finds for 17-20" (such as American Girl, LOF, and antique bisque-head dolls) and 10-12" (such as Bleuette and French fashion) sized dolls. I love to craft for the dollies, but of course my own dolls do not need infinite quanitites of groceries, boudoir accessories, or toys... so I offer them to others when I have the time. :) I offer these items on ebay throughout the year. My ebay name is thehistoricaldoll. I also offer craft kits to friends off ebay about four times a year, based on season; if you would like to be on a mailing list, contact me via email.
Second, there are the pages that show my displays. These are displays I have built over the years that give ideas for historical era-specific doll rooms. Most of these items were long ago sold, as I started creating displays as a child and have sold my collection several times to pay for more practical items like graduate school. But I still enjoy the photos and other people seem to as well. I hope that they give you some inspiration in how to creatively approach displaying and playing with dolls and antique miniatures. Some of the displays are full rooms, and others are single items close-up that might be fun for you to recreate. These displays are in order by era for approximately 18" dolls, then show the displays I have created for Bleuette (11") sized dolls, and finally show a peek at my fantasy dolls.
Third, there are pages of resources for the collector: tips for storage and display, for buying and crafting, and some comparisons of pre-Mattel and Mattel American Girl dolls.
I hope you find some inspiration, joy, and usefulness from the website. It provides lots of fun for me!
