• The GK-12 Program

For the 2003-2004 school year the GK-12 program, supported a collaboration between John Naisbitt, a teacher at Hinsdale Central High School and  Kris DuRocher Wilson a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Illinois, at Urbana Champaign. This website is contains the activities and materials created throughout this project.

These lessons area available for educational use and intended as a resource for teachers and educators.





• Our Goals

Our goals for this school year were to help students understand history through primary sources, to involve and excite them about the past, to develop critical thinking skills, and to integrate technology and multimedia teaching and learning into this process.

A "choose-your-own-adventure" project examining multiple sites of popular culture from 1900-1930


World War I: Using Primary Sources

A more complicated project based on the model developed for the Civil War


World War  II: Creating Primary Sources
