"SAVE NUTA (Helsinki, Finland) is a musical collaboration involving members of bands like HIM, Scandinavian Music Group, The Latebirds, Donits Osmo Experience, The Wrecking Queens and Stunning Guns. These local heroes got together in order to save their old "Rock'N'Roll High School". This famous youth center in Helsinki's Munkkiniemi is known for its world class recording facilities a.k.a. MD-Studio. The session took place at the studio in question on a grey Saturday afternoon in October 2008. Mixed by Mr. Mikko Karmila and mastering courtesy of our pals at Chartmakers. Special guest on this recording - TOMMY RAMONE!"

The working-title of the upcoming HIM album, which will be recorded in August 2009 and released in early 2010, is:

"Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice"

Producer of the album is Matt Squire.

"Summer Wine" has just re-entred German Top 100 single charts at #88!!! That is unbelievable!!

At 15th May 2009 Ville Valo & HIM has been at a chart-countdown at German TV-show "Ultimative Chartshow".

There is a new interview from a finnish magazin. It is about the new album (translation by sinesery from Valo Daily):

WILL HIM RECORD THEIR NEXT ALBUM IN JAMAICA?

HIM played about 170 gigs after their last studio album. At the end of last year, their singer and songwriter spent about three weeks in California planning the future with people from the record label.

Ville Valo brought home from his trip also two new tattoo. Kat von D has tattooed the portrait of Maya Deren on his chest and of Klaus Kinski on the left side of his stomach.

There’s a rumor circulating about Ville being part of the music team for Tim Burton’s new film. This the singer denies.

“I hadn’t even heard about that. It would be cool though.”

Along with some side projects, he has concentrated on making new songs for HIM. Valo says that he has “eight or nine” songs at a point where he can consider presenting them to the band.

He hopes a new HIM album will be released in twelve months. It is well known that Ville likes to set deadlines to motivate himself to work, and he sees the beginning of the year as a good time for releasing an album.

“It would be an ideal situation if we could start a world tour right after Helldone 2009. But that means that we would have to release an album at about the same time. Which means that we would have to go to the studio pretty soon and finish recording before autumn. The album would have to be completely done by next Christmas.”

HIM recorded their latest album at Finnvox (in Helsinki), but they are planning on recording the next one outside of Finland.

“The good thing about recording close to home is that you have your own bed and your sweetheart or family close by. On the other hand, that doesn’t make concentrating on working any easier. If you look at how we’ve done things in the past, it’s time for a foreign studio again.”

“It has always been nice to record in England. The older studios there often have some sort of rock myths associated with them. But it would be nice to try a new place too. I have actually looked into a few studios in Jamaica. They’re damn expensive, but the surroundings can hardly get any better than that.”

Acording to an interview with Metal Hammer (UK) with Ville, we can expect the release of the next HIM album in late 2008 or early 2009:

“We’re in the songwriting phase, but I always am so it never stops,” explains HIM frontman Ville Valo. “The idea is to write number one hits songs… 13 of them,” he adds with a wry smile. “We’ll figure out who’ll produce it early next year and head into the studio in March or April. Hopefully we’ll be done by the festival season and be able to play new songs there. If the album doesn’t come out in autumn or winter 2009, it’ll be early 2010.”

So what can we expect from the new HIM album?

“I haven’t talked to the band for long yet, but I want to keep the songs all under five minutes and make them really punky and direct. When I say punky I don’t mean sounding like punk, I mean punk in feel. Not so much ear candy. I love over-produced albums but we’ve never tried a more stripped-down, simple approach in a Search And Destroy Iggy Pop and the Stooges type vibe. It’ll still be wanky and melancholy and have all those HIM elements, but just not so much ear candy. Venus Doom was quite a proggy album for us so I’m thinking of doing the opposite with this one.”

And as he explains, being sober has brought out his inner bastard, which we will hear on the new material: “I’m more pissed off and more aggressive. There’s no buffer between me and the real world so I’m the proper cunt I was meant to be.”
