Welcome to Mrs. Hill's E-Z LIBRARY LESSONS!
I'm your librarian, Mrs. Hill.
Library Lesson #1 GIVING CREDIT. (a.k.a. your Bibliography)
Today your library lesson is about giving credit. We call this "citing your source." Have you ever come up with a really neat idea and a friend took your idea and called it her idea? Not cool, right?
When you do research, you are gathering information from several places. If you took all that information and didn't say where you got it, that wouldn't be cool either. Actually, it's called plagiarism. Today you are going to learn to avoid plagiarism.
First you'll learn about what type of information you need to record when doing research.
Then you'll learn how to format the information to turn in with your paper. We are going to learn about MLA format today. This is the format usually required by your English teachers. Other formats include APA and Chicago style. We'll get to those another day.
