CityFest

THANK YOU to everyone who helped make CityFest 2008 another smashing success!

CityFest Sunday...

The day dawned warm and overcast... crews had been working since 2am, setting up stages and fencing, clearing streets, and preparing for the 100,000+ visitors arriving by 10am for Hillcrest's favorite August event. Food vendors from all over, with every type of cuisine imaginable, lined the block near the Hillcrest Association's office. The Book Fair occupied the shady block just south, and author readings provided a lovely, quiet escape from the bustle of the fair. Beautiful local and imported crafts were available everywhere you turned, and a relaxed excitement permeated the event. Local cafe Babycakes had a grand opening party on their patio complete with a swimming pool and beach balls. Local stores and restaurants could barely keep up with demand, and the beer gardens and stages entertained all day long. By closing time, exhausted visitors, vendors and CityFest staff were happy to pack up shop and retire with the spoils of the day.
