Whippet and Italian Greyhound show kennels

Hello and welcome to HighIsland, we are a family based small kennels, located in Great Yarmouth Norfolk.

We are a family of sighthound lovers, I'm Tanya Docwra and my father with whom i share the kennel affix is Micheal Docwra, a family partnership through and through. We are also part of The Kennel Club`s accredited breeder scheme .

My father is best known for horse and scrap dealing with a good well known name in old time lurcher breeding, involving many of the smithfield lurcher names of today.

How did we begin? my father has always had lurchers and sighthounds, with a strong whippet base , both breeding and working them and I as a 5 yr old girl insisted i wanted a" mini whippet" a common mistake when seeing an italian for the first time, so i have grown up with whippets or whippet bred lurchers all my life. About 6 yrs ago Dad was having health problems with his heart and was unable to do as much with the yard as his health would allow so step forward Tangy Tango  an 8 week old KC reg whippet from the colchester area, he was bought to be a companion to dad , hopefully quell my urge for an italian and possibly show or use as a stud dog , he has fulfiled all the various requests and more besides.

Im a total fan of the smallest and oldest sighthound breed in the world , the Italian Greyhound! i personally own 5 Italians and have just started showing my first boy Royal Blue Boy to a small amount of success for 2 total showing novices! Our season ended with a 3rd place at Crufts 2007. New additions to the italian kennels are Gianni Gilded at HighIsland, fawn boy white socks and trim, and Gianni Cleopatra at Highisland, blue girl whole lotta attitude!!! Blues granny Deneers Alice Bluegown also resides here and soon to be joining us from Sweden will be Skogsville Orpehelia a sable girl with white trim.

Our whippets are Tangy Tango ( soon to have HighIsland added) Blue brindle and white parti colour dog with lines such a fleetway , shalfleet and kaymark, he is available at stud to approved bitches only. Princess Pride at HighIsland, white bitch with lemon brindle head , and Lady Joy at HighIsland, a dark red brindle girl, litter sister to pride , she is of small racing type although both have very good pedigrees , involving cobyco and hillsdown fergal, the we have our homebred HighIsland Just Jessie, she is daughter to tango and joy, she is red brindle and very soon makes her debut in the ring, so watch this space for show news! please enjoy the rest of the site
