What does "YHWH" mean?

Man was made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26,27). So man (adam Heb "the ruddy one") was a replica of God. We would call this cloning in the 21st Century. Adam - the Divine Prototype - was perfect. He was a clone of God. From Adam came Eve, the female of the species. It is important to note that both Adam and Eve, the male and female, were made in God's image. It isn't only the masculine gender that is made in the image of God. A female elephant is still an elephant. A female tiger is still a tiger. Likewise, a female man - a woman (man with a womb) -  is still the image and likeness of God.

However, Adam and Eve fell from this place of perfection. The serpent promised they would become more than they were. Instead, they became less than they were. To be less than perfect is a deficit. Man now had a shortfall in his nature. Sin is to fall short of the mark. Man had a sin virus that caused him to fall short of the mark in his conduct, his understanding, his health, his wealth, his very life. When Adam fell, death was introduced to the human species.

God had to do something to deliver man from this awful condition. He did. He began to make up the deficit in man. How did He do this?

God (Elohim) began to reveal Himself to man in a new way. What you have to understand is: God is a bookkeeper. The books of eternity must be balanced. Man had a great deficit in his ledger; he owed a massive debt due to his falling short. God demands perfection (Gen. 17:1; Deut. 18:31; Matt. 5:48). There can be no falling short.

But it was perfectly obvious that man could not make up the deficit. Ever. So God would have to do this Himself. Therefore He began to reveal to man His purpose. This is where the Hidden Name comes in. We know that God had revealed the Divine Name prior to the Burning Bush. It is recorded in Genesis. The problem of Exodus 6:3 can be solved by either putting a question mark at the end or by taking the view that YHWH meant that the patriarchs did not have a full understanding of The Name in their day. This latter view is the one most favoured by scholars.

God revealed The Name to Moses at the Burning Bush (Exodus ch. 3). He said "I AM THAT I AM" in response to Moses' question of "Who will I say sent me?" God told Moses "Tell them I AM has sent you." This is hayah in Hebrew. It means "to exist", "to come to pass" or "to become". I AM THAT I AM is hayah asher hayah - I am who I am.

And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.                                                                                                                  EXODUS 3:15 KJV

The word "LORD" here capitalized is the word YHWH, which is derived from hayah. It means "The Self-Existent One". Or "The Ever-living One". It also means "The One who becomes" or "The One who is becoming". It is this Name that Talmudic Jews sought to cover up and obliterate from common use. Why?

Because mankind's greatest enemy is religion. Or, to be more accurate, religiosity. Religious people cannot stand the idea of God becoming. To them, God is perfect and has no need to become anything. This is, of course, true. But they miss the point.

Or do they?!

You see, God has no need to become anything. He has no deficit or shortfall in Himself. But man has. Therefore, God had to make up the deficit in man to help man balance his books. The way He did this was to place His Name YHWH upon man. This Name means "I AM becoming". To man its meaning is simple:

"I AM becoming IN YOU!!!!

It literally means "I AM cloning myself in you". For the purpose of bringing up the deficit to where you can stand before Me justified and perfect.

The Divine Name was given to man to help him be cured of the sin virus, that thing which caused him to fall short of the mark. One purpose of cloning is to replace defective genes, cells etc with healthy ones. God's purpose in giving man The Name was to replace the sin nature with Divine DNA! YHWH is a cloning procedure for this purpose!

And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying,
Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 
YHWH bless thee, and keep thee: 
YHWH make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 
YHWH lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.                                          NUMBERS 6:22-27

YHWH put His Name upon the Covenant Nation to protect and bless them. And to make them perfect, to bring up the deficit in the ledger on their behalf. He understood that they could not do this themselves. The giving of The Name was the beginning of the Divine Cloning programme to rescue man from the genetic spiritual defect of sin.

This programme was completed at the coming of the Second Man, the Lord from heaven.
