THIS A - Z NON-GENRE SPECIFIC LIST IS BEING CONSTANTLY UPDATED.

ANODYNE - ‘STARC’

A track from Irish electronic producer Colin Cloughey’s self-entitled 1996 on Ultramack. This is him at his most attention grabbing best with a collision of atmospheric styles on display. His timeless and sole album to date is near impossible to locate today, considered a prize amongst those who know. After this auspicious start 2 single tracks leaked out on compilations on Skam and Front End Synthetics but since then nothing outside the extremely rare live show. He does still continue to produce in self imposed exile, far from his Dublin origins, and hopefully an interview with him will appear here at some point.

AZALIA SNAIL - 'BLUE DANUBE'

Epic title track from 'Blue Danube' album, Normal 1995. http://www.azaliasnail.com

AUTOMAT - 'NEMATOD'

Subtle electro number that will never sound stale, on the 'Introspection' E.P. 12" on SCSI AV http://www.scsi-av.co.uk

COMTRON - 'EVIL MACHINE' & 'WHAT WE SELL'

2 Classics but it could have been 6 on this outstanding 'What We Sell' EP, BlackLabel

DECAL - 'DANCING WITH STILETTOS IN THE SNOW'

One of Decals most inventive tracks and only available as a quicktime video! Included on a CD of Irish artists, 'Please Don't Ask Me What I Think of Your Band' that came free with Homage magazine. The video by Tim Redfern is also outstanding, gelling seamlessly with the music, 2002. http://www.decal-artifacts.com

DER ZYKLUS - 'FORMENVERWANDLER'

Classic vocal track found on Der Zyklus 2 12", Heinrich Muller aka Gerald Donald, on Gigolo Records http://www.gigolo-records.de

DEXTER - ‘ECHO PARK’

Everyone seems to have a different favourite from this groundbreaking EP but for me ‘Echo Park’ is the most jaw dropping. From the ‘Intruder’ 12” on Klakson, 2001.

NICK DRAKE - 'JOEY'

This out-take from Nick's 1968 debut album, 'Five Leaves Left' came out finally in 1986 on his 'Time of No Reply' collection on Hannibal. Hard to believe this demo was not followed up on, being sublime and possessed of all the qualities that this whole 'Hidden Classics' t is thing is supposed to be about. Surely there’s more by the same artist I could include, your right, maybe I’ll get round to it, but this one most obviously has that special quality.

DYNAREC - 'PHONETIC RESPONCES'

Irresistible stomper from the mysterious Dynarec, think this is from their debut release. Available on ‘R Cam’ 12” on Delsin, 2003. http://www.delsin.org

ELEGY - 'FLIGHTS OF FANTASY'

From a 3 artist 12" on Likemind 1996.

ESEM - 'ELOKI'

Laid back perfection on the 'Ikae' 12" EP on DeFocus 2001

GALAXIE 500 - ‘FORTH OF JULY’

Beautiful, almost krautrock, number from this most delicate Boston 3 piece. Available on their swansong ‘This is Our Music’ album on Rough Trade from 1990. Their power to break hearts still lingers.

THE HACKER - 'FADIN' AWAY'(DIMA REMIX)

Wow, this track long predated and set the bar for the electroclash movement which few would ever reach. An awesomely huge sounding track which is impossible not to have a reaction to. Dima is better known as Vitalic, available on the 'Fadin' Away Remix' 12" on Good Life, 2000, more widely available on Dave Clarke's World Service 1. http://www.goodlife-ozone.com

HOT SNAKES - 'PLENTY FOR ALL'

Joyous riff filled distillation of what these guys do best. Still managing to find new shapes from the same old guitars, drums and vocals format. From their abstract as ever third 2005 album 'Audit in Progress' on Swami. http://www.hotsnakes.com

 HUMAN - 'EVIL KNEVIL'

Would love to track down these people for an interview. Stone cold classic, Currently available on AUX 88 presents Electro Boogie compilation http://www.studio-k7.de

KIRK DEGIORGIO - 'DISTRACTION'

Mighty techno track on 'Holy Distraction', New Religion 2003.

R.E.C. - 'HAPPY TOM' & 'MACHINE DANCER'

2 classics on one release! aka Stefan Robbers. Available on Batter Up EP 12" on Eevolute 2003 http://www.eevolute.net

RUTHERFORD - 'NO DRAMA'

Hard to pick just one from this outstanding release, but the simplicity of 'No Drama' does it every-time. Available on the Cessna 12" on Kondi Records 2005 http://www.kondi-records.com

SHIVER - 'DOCTOR BREAK'

Weirdly futuristic electro cut for the time, still stands up. Currently available on Dave Clarke presents Electro Boogie compilation http://www.studio-k7.de

SUPREME DICKS - 'IN THE WHIPPOORWILL’S SAD ORCHARD'

Heart breaking instrumental that manages to contain all the beauty and tragedy this band could so easily conjure up. From their truly classic album ‘Working Man’s Dick’, a compilation of unreleased material on Freek Records 1994. Predictably out of print.

THE MONSTERS FROM ID - 'CYBERSHOPPER'

Obscure and rare, aka Carl Finlow, from 'Signal 2' EP 12"on Signal 1999

Full on dance-floor gem from the 'Futurist' 12" on Pi Gao Movement http://www.pigaomovement.com

Tightly produced runaway number from UK producer Martin Wheeler, drop this at anytime from now till the end of time and watch the people loose it before asking, "What the fuck was that!". Available on the 'Electrobotik Disco' 12" from 2004 on Soma. http://www.somarecords.com
