The idea behind this site is to pinpoint isolated tracks that never became classics in their genre but yet have the necessary ingredients. The reasons behind their failure may be that they were simply overlooked, came in a limited quantity, were a B-side, were only available on a compilation or as a download or in some cases were never officially released. In the case of dance music especially, the dwindling sales of 12"'s has spawned a steady stream of mind-blowing releases that seem to permanently disappear within weeks. The site will of course reflect my own taste and its success will be judged on how well it broadly tallies with that of others. To this end I will endeavour to make it as genre busting as possible. Part of my criteria is that if the track was played to a mass audience in the context of a movie for example that they would respond. I'm thinking of a Pixes track at the end of Fight Club type scenario. I will also be covering current as well as older tracks.

This site is called ‘Hidden Classics’ as opposed to ‘Lost Classics’ because these are tracks that have not been forgotten about because they have never before been recognised beyond aficionados.

I hope this site can become a useful resource for people interested in discovering new music and that with the interviews I can get behind some of the tracks and understand the motivation of the artists and just catch up with what they are doing today.
