Hi and Welcome to Heythrop Terriers. We are Linda & Roger Bigland, who have a small kennel based in Worcestershire, we aim to breed for type and temperament, whilst retaining working ability.
Roger has been a professional terrier man since 1963, he acquired two dogs Dodger and Diddle in 1964, bred by Major John Sheddon. The Majors former wife produced accurate information on the breeding of these dogs dating back to 1947. They originated from Charlie Pegler (Landlord of the Swan Public House in Moreton in the Marsh). As they were bred and worked in the Heythrop Hunt country we adopted the "Heythrop" affix. The lines have continually produced good workers, although we have to outcross at times we want to keep these old lines in our terriers. Roger has worked for the Cotswold, Heythrop and North Cotswold.
We have had considerable success in the show ring winning at hunt shows and working terrier shows over the years. Roger loves to judge and has judged the majority of working terrier shows at game fairs, agriculture shows and hunts. He has also judged many shows in Europe and America, both before and after we went K C registered. He has awarded C Cs at many shows in England including Crufts in 2007.
Linda is very interested in and loves the breeding and showing side of the terriers. She has made up three Champions, two of which we bred. Winning BOB at Crufts was a very exciting and memorable event. Linda is a committee member of the Parson Russell Terrier Club.
The terriers are such great fun, very intelligent and lovable. We hope you enjoy this website, Please don't hesitate to contact us for more information.
