JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT
BIOGRAPHY:
Jennifer Love Hewitt
got her first name from her older brother Todd (b. 1971), who picked the name
after a little blonde girl he then had a crush on. Her mother selected her
middle name, Love, which she goes by offstage from her best friend at college.
Her mother, Pat, is a speech pathologist and her father, Danny, is a medical
technician. Her parents separated when she was six months old. Born in Waco,
Texas, she was raised by her mother in Killeen. She made her official performing
debut at age 3 where she sang at a livestock show. At age 5, she was taking
tap, jazz, and ballet lessons which led her to joining the Texas Show Team,
which toured the Soviet Union and Europe. At age 10, the family moved to L.A.
with the encouragement of talent scouts, while Todd stayed behind to finish
high school in Texas. Love quickly found commercial work and a role on Disney's
"Kids Incorporated" (1984). She went through a series of television
flops before finally hitting it big on "Party of Five" (1994) in
1995.
In 1997, she starred
in Trojan War as Leah, but her big break in the movie industry came when she
co-starred in the hit movie I Know What You Did Last Summer during the same
year. She joined other talented actors and actresses such as Sarah Michelle
Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, and Freddie Prinze Jr. In 1997, she also starred in
the movie Can't Hardly Wait with Ethan Embry. After a very successful year
in the movie business, she followed up with a good 1998 when she co-starred
in the popular sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. In the second
outing, she co-starred with Brandy, Mekhi Phifer and Freddie Prinze Jr.
In the near future she
will release a movie called Love Story, which she wrote. She is also going
to lend her voice as Thumbelina in the animated movie, The Adventures of Thumbelina.
The spin-off of Party of Five, titled Time Of Your Life, aired on Fox for
a limited time until the network cancelled it because of a lack of popularity.
Hewitt was cast as Audrey Hepburn in the TV miniseries about the actress.
She has also started her own production company, Love Spell Productions, which
has a few movies awaiting production. Jennifer Love Hewitt continually makes
the top five on every list of most popular actresses or best looking actresses,
including Premiere magazine's declaration in September that she is the third
most popular actress on the net. Her fame and popularity will continue to
grow, but she will remain a nice girl with a clean image, unlike many of the
actresses in modern Hollywood. Her innocence and charm are refreshing amidst
an increasingly corrupt industry.
