The Hartham Commoners are an unofficial group of cyclists and runners, based in Hertford (between London and Cambridge), who spend every Wednesday evening wearing down the country lanes of Hertfordshire, before undoing the good work in the pub afterwards.
During the group's Christmas party in 2007 in the Black Horse, four wide-eyed Commoners longing for adventure vowed to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats (LEJOG), i.e. the full length of Great Britain, in June 2008. From then on there was no turning back. We are also committed to raising money for two charities - for Cardiac Risk in the Young and Hertfordshire Scouts.
The team are, from left to right, Mike Aylott, Chris Shattock, Steve Malusky and Adam Austin.
On Saturday 14th June, the four of them departed from Lands End, and on Thursday 26th June 2008, at 8:07am, the team reached their destination - John O'Groats. Read the Travel Log to see how they did it.
