What Herbalife Distributors Sell

Herbalife sell overpriced "weight loss tablets" (translation: weight loss pills) as well as a mix of health, sports and nutritional products. The best way to get an understanding of exactly what they sell is to check out there website at http://www.herbalife.com (a new window will open). However, for this article I searched the web for days to try and find an unbiased review of the Herbalife weight loss program. It seams that the attitude to Herbalife is that it is the greatest thing since sliced bread (ie the Herbalife Distributors and buyers being sucked in to believe this claim), or people in the general public who know it is a scam. Here is the article I found; it does seam to be quite interesting!

Herbalife® Diet Pills - Overview
Like Metabolife®, Herbalife are one of the most successful sellers of diet and weight loss pills. Therefore they command respect in the diet supplements industry.

Herbalife® Diet Pills - Issue
The health issue surrounding Herbalife's diet pills and supplements used to concern the ingredient Ephedra (Ephedrine or Ma Huang), a common herb widely used by many companies in the manufacture of weight loss and bodybuilding supplements and taken by dieters throughout the world. A 2001 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded the herb could cause high blood pressure, heart problems, stroke, seizures and death. And the FDA has reports of 100 deaths among ephedra users. Hence some Herbalife product sellers still post warnings such as: Monitor your heart rate (pulse) and blood pressure when taking ephedra. If your resting heart rate seems faster than usual, or your blood pressure is above normal, stop using the herb. Don't take ephedra with over-the-counter cold remedies or with other formulas containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine. This will double your dose, raising the likelihood of side effects.

However, it seems Herbalife has stopped including ephedra in its weight loss supplements. This is good news! Herbal Diet Pills are Not Necessarily Safer.

As ephedra proved; herbal diet pills containing 'natural' ingredients are not necessarily safer than non-herbal diet pills. Also, over the counter diet pills and supplements, such as those sold by Herbalife are not subject to the same scrutiny as prescription-only diet pills. In particular, ingredient testing and labeling regulations are less strict. This means the weight loss customer depends largely upon information supplied by the diet pill producer.br>
To its credit, Herbalife has posted a number of fairly detailed fact-sheets on it's US web site, which offer information on the ingredients and labels of it's weight loss supplements. However Herbalife does not however offer guidance on meal plans which might/should accompany it's diet pills. The inclusion of such dietary information would be helpful.

Herbalife® Diet Pills - Summary
Despite their popularity, there is no clinical evidence to suggest that diet supplements offer any significant extra benefits over a sensible diet and exercise weight loss program. Thus at present diet supplements or pills appear to be superfluous. Buy them at your own risk.

My Conclusion of the Herbalife Weight Loss Program
As a Person that was at one stage a Herbalife Distributor, I can make the following points about this weight loss program:

· Herbalife Products are extremely over-priced. Take a look at the products on their website and compare them to the sort of stuff you get at a supermarket or health shop – They’re over double the price.

· Herbalife Products are expensive because there are a lot of people to pay - the Distributor, their sponsor, their sponsors up line, the company. It is due to this that these prices are so expensive. It has been proved that Herbalife Products are sold at over 700% their cost price, but only 50% of a sale goes to a Distributor. Therefore if you brought a product for $1000, based on the following statistics $500 would go to the Distributor, $143 would go back to Herbalife as a ‘cost of good sold’, and $357 of your money would be split among the pyramid, so that everyone on that Distributors up line gets a share.

· It’s a proven fact that Herbalife products are extremely hard to sell. As a sales person myself, I couldn't sell this stuff no matter how hard I tried. I guess it is pretty tricky to sell when you have 200 million distributors.

· Finally, just stay away from this stuff. Its not worth the time, money or effort. Buy weight loss products for half the price from your supermarket.
