Menai Constance
I first saw Connie when i went to the Menai Stud reduction sale on the 9th September 2006. When we first arrived at the sales, my friend Vicky and I saw a number of lovely cobs and ponies. We had a look around the stables and some of the animals were magnificant, there were a number I wouldnt have minded taking home but i hadn't gone to buy, we had just gone for the experience and to see some famous bloodlines! But it's always much easier said than done, i was in no position to buy I had no transport and more to the point no funds! Anyway we were sitting outside some of the stables on the hill watching the cobs going past down to the ring and there was a bit of a scene going on, a certain little filly would not go down to the ring even with a number of men pushing, pulling and even carrying her she wouldnt go so in the end she was withdrawn, but by that time it was too late, i had already fallen in love with her immensely strong personality, she was not going down and that was it! she was only three months at the time of the sales and not really eating hard food very well. I went down and spoke to the owner of the stud and he wanted a lot of money for her but i didn't have it so that was that! We went home the next morning after spending the night in a local B&B but i couldnt just forget her, she wouldnt leave my conscience so a few weeks later i emailed Mr Jones to see if he still had her and wanted to sell her and he said he did, so we came to an arrnaement on the price and she was delivered to me at the Royal Welsh sales, she had not done well without her motherand was rather weak when I got her. She is now a beautiful yearling, her conformation isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination (thats what happens when brother and sister are bred together) but she is a real beauty and has a personality to match, a real Madam in no uncertain terms!
