In October 2005 my mother and I went to the Royal Welsh cob sales at Builth Wells with the idea of buying a nice youngster for driving and breeding to produce my own homebred driving team. There were a number of beautiful animals going through the ring but the one that really interested me was a colt described as being a cream dun, by Menai Rancher out of Hefynyw Rhosyn Saron in the sale catalogue. When we came to him he was a small colt with perfect conformation and a kind nature. We liked the look of him but thought he was a little small. There had been a part bred cremello colt in the catalogue which had also interested me but when we came to him his conformation was nothing in comparison. The cremello went through the ring and went for quite a lot of money. Most of the horses seemed to be selling for a reasonably high price then Bowen came into the ring, it was towards the evening of the second day of the sale and people had started to disappear for the evening which was very good for us, Bowen came into the ring and my mother and I knew he was the one for us. We bid on him and won him.
