Help Needed - Our Story

My husband gets shots on the inside of his throat, every three months. These treatments cost $3,200.00 each time. That is $38,400.00 a year. He has seen many specialists at a very high cost. He is also on other medications which cost about $1,200.00a month. The medicines are duragesic 50 mcg/hr patches--roxicodone 5mg 2 tabs. 3 times a day , and clonazepam 2mg 1 tab. 3 times a day.

I take the same medicines, but in place of the clonazepam , I take nerve and sleeping pills. This is because my doctor says that stress will and is making me more ill.. The doctor at the VA hospital that was giving him his shots said he could do no more for him and the he should see an outside doctor. Yes we have military insurance, but they do not pay much, and are paying less and less all the time.

As for me . I had a blood transfusion at a military hospital several years ago, and with it I received a gift, Hepatitis-c. Two years ago my dr. Took out my gall bladder, and now it is not there to make the enzymes that my liver needs, so my hepatitis gets real bad flare ups.

The medical treatments for Hepatitis-C cost $25,000.00 a year, so as you can guess, I do not get them. I also have fibromyalgia, three deteriorated discs and one herniated disc with a pinched nerve. I am on my fifth year of this illness, and for the last 4 years I have been bed ridden 90% of the time.

We have been to so many specialists that we have lost count, but the cost of the bills that we have to pay sure shows how many. We are $40,000.00 in debt due to our illness ,and the bills we had before this all started. And as you can most likely guess when I am in bed my sweet husband has to do all of the housework, feed me and do everything it takes to take care of a home. And with his illness it is not done very well, but we make it. Our love can make it through anything!!!

By the time we pay our bills all we have left to live on is about $125.00 a month for food and personal needs. As you can guess we are not making it very well. Our Lord in heaven says that we must humble ourselves. Well I can not think of anything more humbling than this. I am so ashamed to have to ask strangers for help, but there is no other way. We have tried to get help from government agencies, but if you make even $1.00 over poverty level no one will help.
