Hybrids (egg layers)

Although the chickens i keep are very pretty and friendly , they do not  lay eggs during the winter months ,  and lots of customers have asked for chickens that do lay in the winter so i have started to keep a few  egg layers and have a few for sale at the moment .

Hebden blacks are lovely birds which have a beautiful black plumage with varying amounts of gold and copper on the necks and chest, and the black feathers have a beautiful green sheen to them when they are in the sun shine .

Hebden blacks lay around 300 eggs in thier first year,

 

 

          Speckledys

Speckledys are a very pretty bird that lays quite dark brown eggs around 260 in the first year ,

they look very much like a cuckoo marran ,  they are also very friendly and will easily be tamed to  eat from your hand .

Here are a few pictures of some of the eggs these chickens lay , as you can see they are quite large and often produce double yolkers and some nice cloured shells too
