Heights

Heights is a band composed of people with different backgrounds and styles. They hail from the Ateneo de Manila University. The current members are Derrick Gomez(Lead vocals, right guitar), Jan Habana (Lead Guitar), Rj Banzon (Bass, back-up vocals), and Miguel Andres (Drums, back-up vocals).

Their sound is a fusion of different and exquisite musical genres.  Their music falls on the borders of alternative rock and indie pop. Though this may be their main genres, they take ease in straddling between different genres. They continue on their trademark clean, catchy and sometimes danceable tunes. Their songs are accentuated with catchy, happy and blissful guitar riffs and snappy drum lines. Derrick's soothing, and sometimes "lounge-esque" voice compliments their lively instrument playing and warming cheerful presence on stage. They decided that there's just too much "noisy" and "unclear" music in the scene. They take their edge on beautiful harmonies, catchy tunes, and clean, senseful lyrics.

The band was born sometime in mid 2005 at their school, Ateneo de Manila. They started out with Kevin Catbagan as guitarist, Rj Banzon as bassist, Derrick Gomez as vocalist, Jan Habana as guitarist, Miguel Andres as drummer, and Dan Guzman as keyboardist. After a few months and some gigs, Dan left the band. The group carried on without a keyboardist and continued to play in gigs and concerts.

Sometime in mid February, 2006, Their lead guitarist. Kevin Catbagan announced his leave from the band. After this, the members decided to have their vocalist, Derrick, take up double duty as a rhythm guitarist as the other members would adjust.

The band still continues to practice, enhance and refine their music as they play even more gigs and projects..
