Hednesford Town Under 8's became champions of the Wednesfield 2008 summer tournament with a convincing win in the final over the tournament hosts.
After successfully winning their group stage and semi-final, Hednesford again faced Wednesfield who thay had beat earlier in the group matches. The game was only 2 minutes old when Hednesford broke away down the right and Jack Weldon fed Tanaka Katsunkya to turn and fire a shot into the bottom corner to give Hednesford the lead. Hednesford kept pressing forward and a few minutes later Jack Weldon scored at the far post to make it 2-0. In the second half Hednesford continued to play passing football and wrapped up the victory half way into the half when Matt Dyke fired across the keeper into the far corner after a great run and through ball by Cody Lyons.

Sat 7th June - F.C.Strollers

Hednesford Town Under 8's 2 Lane Head Strikers 1

Hednesford cruised to victory to be crowned champions of the FC Strollers Under 8's summer tournament at Grovesnor Park, Blakenall at the weekend making it 2 winners cups in consecutive weeks. After dominating the group stages Town played Lane Head in the final and were soon on the attacked and had the opposition pinned back in their own half for much of the first half. Cody Lyons finished from the edge of the box to make it 1- 0 at half time. After about 3 minutes of the second half Hednesford conceded only their second goal of the competition from a fine free kick from the Lane Head captain. Again Town pressed and with 2 minutes to go got the goal they deserved when Jamie Weldon brought the ball out of defence to feed Jack Weldon who played a neat through ball for Matt Dyke to fire past the keeper to make Hednesford Champions. It was a fine performance from all the lads who scored 17 goals throughout the competition.
