Heaven's Great Danes

Welcome to Heaven's Great Danes!

I am a small hobby breeder located in beautiful Michigan. I started breeding Great Danes after I met my first Dane and fell in love with the breed. The Great Dane really is a true "gentle giant" in every sense of the word. These dogs are very gentle and family oriented. Despite that fact that they are very large dogs, almost all of them seem to think that they are lap dogs. They love to be with their family and usually enjoy the company of other dogs as well as children. Great Danes make wonderful house dogs. They love laying around, being couch potatos. The Great Dane is a breed like no other. Once you own one, you'll never want to be without one again.

All of my dogs are my babies! They are all part of the family, and very loved! I am a very small breeder. I only have a litter every couple of years or so. All puppies leave my home with a puppy starter kit, food sample, collar, leash, treats, a toy, 1 year health guarantee on anything genetic, and a lifetime of breeder support! When finding homes for my puppies, I do everything in my power to ensure that all of my babies go to the best homes possible. All of my puppies and dogs are placed on contracts. There are NO exceptions! I screen all potential homes to ensure that you can provide my babies with a loving indoor home, and also to make sure that a Great Dane is the right dog for you. Although, Great Danes are a truely awesome breed, they are not the dog for everyone. Please research this breed before deciding if you think that this breed is the right one for you.

Please feel free to contact with any questions that you may have....about my puppies or about Great Danes in general. I will be glad to answer any questions! I also sometimes rescue pets when they are in need of loving homes. If you have a Great Dane that needs a home, please feel free to contact me. I would be more than happy to help you find a loving home for your dog!

Thanks for visiting!

History Of The Breed
This is the Great Dane, a sleek, athletic dog tightly boned to humans, capable of great courage, and known among fanciers as " the Apollo of dogs. "

The Great Dane is properly called the Deutsche Dogge or German Mastiif, a name enschewed by fanciers in English - speaking countries. However, there is no evidence that the dog was developed anywhere but Germany, and there is no known reason for it being named for the country of Denmark. The breed originated from dogs of the mastiff type and was developed to hunt wild boar, guard castles, pull carts, and participate in battle.

Since the Germans never do anything by halves, the Deutsche Dogge lived up to its promise as a fierce, courageous canine - a " super dog " - designed to hunt the savage and unpredictable European wild boar, a beast well armed with formidable tusks that could rip a dog to shreds.

The Dane is obviously more refined then the English Mastiff and the massive, salivating Neapolitan Mastiff or Dogue de Bordeaux of a recent cinematic frame, but it most likely came from the original stock. The mastiff type dog originated in Asia and has been molded into and influenced several different breeds. There is evidence that the Dane's more elegant appearance may have come from an infusion of Irish Wolfhound blood and some fanciers claim the English Mastiff as the progenitor of this breed, but the dog may indeed be a descendant of both. Whatever its origan, the Great Dane is a picture of style and grace quite unlike any other breed today.

Although the Dane - like dogs have been portrayed in Oriental writings and on Egyptian monuments dated prior to the birth of Christ, the breed is considered to be about 400 years old. The Great Dane Club of America was formed in 1889 and became the fourth breed to join the American Kennel Club ( AKC ).

In 2004, 9,507 individual Great Danes were registered with the American Kennel Club ( AKC ), an increase of about 500 dogs from the previous year. Litter registrations were up too, 3,312 litters recorded in 2004 was an increase of 312 over 2003. These stats place the breed at 27 of 154 breeds of in individual registrations and in 29 litter registrations.
