angels in the architecture, y'know, spinning in infinity, like.

Angels... what is it about the imagery of these winged beings that fascinates us so? Is it their connection with the Divinity? Their purity and power? Their sheer beauty? Their mystery, the fantasy and the reality? Or is it merely the age-old dream of flight and the freedom that wings can bring?

In this small part of the Wide World that is the Web, I will explore this topic using the angelic themed artwork I have created over the last few years.

Christmas card, circa 1990, my first cut-out angel
An angel with attitude, a logo for a local church's youth event
Paper sculpture, based on a dream (or perhaps a vision) that I had. In my dream, a humble guitarist who is singing truly from the heart is joined by massed angel choirs.
Paper sculpture, a manga influenced angel, a thankyou gift commissioned by Fiona.
Photoshopped angels. Young Christa as a cute blue angel, and the 'love joy peace hope' paper sculptured angel meet in this Birthday present for Christa's mum.
Embossed Aluminium robotic cupid. Not at all theologically sound, but fun!
Photography and Photoshop. Berlin's Angel of Victory in the Tiergarten at dusk. A reference to the Wim Wender movie and U2 song 'Far away, So Close'
'Love, Joy, Peace, Hope' A birthday wish and gift for Monika. Celtic, Gothic, Romantic, a little bit Art deco, very spiritual, symbolic and, I hope meaningful. Paper sculpture mounted in an articulated winged frame.
