Natural Health

The starting point is an analysis of individual nutritional needs. Age, dietary habits, state of health and medical history are taken into account along with other lifestyle factors.
While there are some general principles that apply to us all, individual health and lifestyle circumstances may put heavier demands on our bodies. Unless we match those demands with consumption of adequate amounts of the right nutrients, we are likely to function at less than our optimum level. Furthermore our state of health may not only be determined by our nutrient intake but by what we actually digest and absorb. Consequently factors such as poor digestive function or exposure to pollutants can also lead to a state of sub-optimum nutrition, creating a state of imbalance in the body.
This can lead to numerous symptoms ranging from something as simple as unwanted weight gain to hormonal dysfunctions. Consequently many conditions, including common complaints such as high blood pressure, allergies and digestive problems, may respond to Nutritional Therapy.
The job of the nutritional therapist is to identify how nutrition can be tuned to the requirements of the individual. As such a nutrition consultation would aim to identify imbalances and/or deficiencies and correct them through diet and supplementation, sometimes also together with lifestyle interventions such as exercise and stress reduction.
As well as aiming to treat various symptoms, Nutritional Therapy could also benefit someone who simply wants to attain optimum health or peak sports performance.
