Dukes of Hazzard Cast

The Dukes of Hazzard television show first aired on CBS in 1979. It was a huge success and continued on for seven seasons, until 1985 after which they also had a reunion show in 1997. A Dukes of Hazzard movie starring Seann William Scott as Bo Duke, Johnny Knoxville as Luke Duke, and Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke is currently in the works and expected to be released on the big screen in 2005.

The show was set out in the Georgia countryside, in Hazzard County. Unlike most movies or shows, the star of the television series was a car. The General Lee was an orange 1969 Dodge Charger R/T with welded doors, a rebel flag and "General Lee" on the roof and "01" on the doors. Also starring were the owners of the General, cousins Bo and Luke Duke. These two cousins wanted to be Nascar drivers but in the meantime lived on their Uncle Jesse's farm along with another cousin, Daisy, doing odd jobs while they tried to do good for the world.

The show also had its share of crooks and supporting cast. Boss Hogg (Jefferson Davis Hogg) owned most of the county along with being the county commissioner, judge, etc. His brother in-law was his sidekick sherrif, Rosco P. Coltrane. Rosco was a one time straight cop who had moved over to Boss's racket after being denied his pension. His deputies were Enos Straitt and Cletus Hogg (third cousin of Boss Hogg). Also part of the cast was the Dukes good buddy and local auto-mechanic, Cooter Davenport.

One of the other most important characters in the series was someone you hardly saw in person. But his voice was key - doing everything from singing the famous theme song, narrating the background storylines, and getting us psyched about what was coming up after the commercial breaks. He of course was country music star, Waylon Jennings.
