| The early years |
I discovered that there was LSR racing back in 2000 and was very interested ,so I attended the 2001 event (speed week is held only once a year every March) needless to say I was hooked line and sinker , so I attended each year assisting in what ever was required ( this whole event is run by volunteers ) finally becoming the scrutineer /tech inspector for the motorcycles, and during the long intervals between each event , studied and planned and started on a building spree that would see a rolling chassis built for a sidecar streamliner , a hand built special construction Kawasaki ZX 10 andthe purchase of a 1999 model hayabusa |
| March 2004 |
This was my first year that I actually and finally got to sample the salt ,I ran the Hayabusa ,basically in stock trim and I added a simlpe nitrous system with jetting up to 80 hp , it was dynoed and produced 164 RWHP N/A and 205HP with a 40 hp shot, the secondary fuel I used was 100% toluene. My aim was to achieve 200+ MPH (322KPH) and be the first bike to run over 200 , I achieved 200+ actually 202.065 and became a 200MPH club member but there were 3 hayabusa's that all ran 200+ on the same day I was # 3, my main problem was traction when I operated the nitrous ,it spun the rear tyre ( ever run at 200mph + with your back tyre spinning?) I finally found the best option was to hit the nitrous at about 5/6 K rpm and my best speed was with using a 50 hp shot , the speedo wound off the dial and bounced off the rev limiter , the bike was geared to top out at 216 mph so that is what the reat tyre was doing , this was a good start as lots of racers out on the salt spend years trying to top 200 .

| Towards 2005 |
On returning from speed week 2004 I formulated a plan ,to be the first "sit on bike " to achieve 300 mph , this I will do in 4 stages ( as my finances permit ) stage one was already completed ,this year I have started stage 2
Motor - crank micro polished and balanced ,20% greater volume oil pump ,windage tray , Carrillo H beam rods, APE heavy duty studs throughout ,JE 8.5:1 forged pistons ,1mm oversize intake and exhaust valves , heavy duty valve springs , Ti retainers , yosh cams , 2 stage lock up clutch, TTS 12% overdrive 5th and 6th gears , 18 ,19, &20 tooth counter shaft sprockets , 40,39,38, 36 & 34 tooth rear sprockets , the head will be getting done next month SEPT flowed and the ports ballanced. expecting a total of between 450/500 hp
Frame - filled with lead shot extra 68 kg ,extended 6" over chrome molly swing arm also filled with lead shot 30 kg an an extra 90 kg ballast that can be added or removed , car type battery mounted in between extended arm , , adjustable tripple trees up to 15deg , custom tail section , michelin hpx tyres
Electronics- schnitz pro 2 , schnitz EFIC 101, Dedenbear NOC-1( multipull timer ) wot switch , fuel pressure sw , 4X EGT
Nitrous system ( wet ) multi stage , 100 to 300 HP ,direct port foggers , 2 x 5 lb bottles and 1 x 2.5 lb bottle , holley blue blue fuel pump , mallory return to tank regulator
Aerodynamics/ bodywork - extended tail section , modified stock fairing , Im also experimenting with vortex generators and turbulators
stage 3 will see the addition of a ice intercooled turbocharger , change over to methanol fuel and upgrading to an Austronic CPU / data recording
stage 4 custom frame wheels and special streamlined body work |
| 2006 update |
Well its been some time since I have added anything to this web site ,the Busa is now going through its 3rd reincarnation ,2005 was a non event did a total rebuild and created an all out nitrous landspeed bike ,but any fast speeds were not to be ,many problems made speed week 05 a flop

2006 speed week I finally finished an old school kawasaki I started almost 7 years ago ,06 was also a non event ,this time due to the lake being flooded for most of the week , only 2 runs ,after I got back (march) I started to totally rebuild the busa again ,this time adding a turbo and further developing the frame and body ,it now is only suitable for landspeed racing .

Mr Wippy as it was christened
I stripped it down to individule components ,and having an idea got straight to work .
April 06
Rake the frame and alter the sub frame ,two reasons 1. lower the bike for less frontal area 2. allow more room up front for a big turbo
