"BILLY" IMPOUND 855353, 8 year male pit bull

Billy is yet another gentle, kind, loving pit bull whose ears have been brutally butchered to make him look tough. There is nothing tough about sweet old Billy. He is a sad, lost, confused and gentle little lamb. He showed up at the shelter and was booked in as a "possible owner". Letters were sent but, big surprise, his people did not come to get him. When Billy was younger, I am sure his people were proud of their big "tough" handsome blue pit bull who made them look cool. Now he is just an old dog and they don't want him.

Every time I saw Billy, I would think " there is the self esteem issues dog". He would sit with Bob the pointer (who is rescued!) and Duke the old German Shepherd (not rescued) and hang his head stealing furtive glances. It just seems as if Billy thinks he is a bad dog and that he must have done something wrong to deserve the awful situation he is in. When I approached he would look away and then turn, with head lowered, and his eyes begged me to explain what was going on, what did he do? His intense, imploring, desperate stare just did me in.

We took Billy out to get pics and he was just so mild mannered, well behaved and SAD, SAD, SAD. I hugged him and he rubbed his face against mine. I pet his big, adorable head and he lay his head in my lap. I love this old dog, he is so good natured, calm and loving. He seems as if he misses somebody, somebody who is obviously not worthy of that kind of devotion. He is a really good boy.

Billy is in Isolation because an old injury on his paw has started to swell up. He is even more sad in isolation than he was in the kennels with his friends. Billy really likes other dogs. I walked him up to some of the poor dogs who were being dumped and he gently sniffed noses and even gave one dog a kiss.

I can only imagine how scared and dejected he will feel, being dragged off to the back room where his life will be ended with no one to shed a tear.

Gracie was pulled from Barrow County, AC in Georgia a few weeks ago.
Her foster mom recently found out that her personal dog
(a 12 yr old Chihuahua) has cancer. Unfortunately her foster mom
needs to find Gracie a new foster home as soon as possible, because
she will be moving & her personal dog is having a leg amputated due to the cancer.
Gracie has been fully vetted (including spay & heart worm preventative), is crate trained and is very well mannered. She comes with her crate and toys, as well as $ 50 sponsorship money.

IF it wern't for her great, sweet attitude, she would already be dead. She has the most outgoing, playful, loving, smart personality ever. She has an awesome personality.

She is fully obedience trained. She will sit, stay, rollover, shake, and speak. She is good with other dogs and cats, she likes kids, men and women. She even gives kisses. She is also housebroken. She will hold it until she almost busts in the kennels hoping for a walk. She is so sweet. She doesn't pull on a leash, or be "rude" when going on walks.

The good news...She has alot of life left in her.

The Bad news...Her time is out.

I've been working with the president of the shetler and we have decided we can give her this last try. A rescue or someone from petfinder adopting her. We had the vet look at her. He said he isn't sure if her tumor is cancerous or not. But he agreed she did have life left in her and didn't deserve to die. on her chest ( NOT a mammory tumor) She has a huge tumor. The size of a 10 yr old childs fist. Its not hard or lumpy, its heavy though. ITs hanging there.

She doesn't appear to be in pain, and really doesn't notice it. So relaly... we do not know for 100% if it is cancerous or not. But for the vet to want to give her a chance, it might NOT be. It has not been removed, because if we are just going to euthanized her, its no use putting her throught a needless surgery. But hopefully she won't have to die for a dumb reason like this.

She truley WANTS to live, She still has that loving, playful, hopeful, look in her eye. She has an amazing spark in her eye that hopefully will not be put out within the next few days. But she IS URGENT. The shelter cares about her. But in reality...This is her only chance. This post..Is the key to her life, or her death. She is very smart, and just wants loved. Other than the tumor, no other health problems appeared. She has good teeth, ears, she is a healthy weight, and her eyes are a little cloudy with age, but she still sees well.

She came into this shelter with love and hope in her eyes, hopefully she will be able to go out with it. Please.. I need help contacting rescues. But i will do whatever i can to help save her. Some type of transport can be arranged.

We adopted him and kept him for a month. He was the best dog I've ever had except for the fact that he wanted to eat our cats. He is COMPLETELY house broken. sits, stays, lay down, shakes and stays off of the furniture. Never pulled on his leash. He never barked (growled once) Absolutely perfect!!!!

When we first went to adopt him he showed no signs of cat aggression. It seems to be only in 'his' space that he has a problem with cats. We talk with trainers and rescue workers and it was going to be much harder to train him to live with our cats than we could handle. (the risk of losing a cat was not worth it to us)

I had to take him back to the shelter after asking everyone that I could. I jumped online and checked out his profile on petfinders today and it broke my heart. Please help find someone to take him home. He truly is the best dog (outside of the wanting to eat or cats of course).
I am uncertain of him and other dogs.

Please pass this along to any 'pit' lover he deserves a good home.

He is at the newport, tennessee animal shelter and is going to be $75.

Owner relinquish. Very loving but somewhat territorial. He has been known to bite out of fear and when protecting what is his. He seems to regret it the second he does it but it hurts just the same. For this reason Nash needs to be adopted locally enough for us to keep up on his life. We are not willing for someone to take him to the pound or have him put down because he reacts inappropriately. Fletch
Fletch is very friendly and wants to be with people. He needs someone willing to give him a lap and a forever home so he can start to bond with a new person very soon. He is quiet and a very easy keeper. Uses a dog door and does very well with potty training. A fence and an application is required.

Bucky
He has a lot of energy for ball playing. He will play until you give up--he never will. He is quick and alert; you can't fake him out or outsmart him with the ball. He never takes his eye off the ball and is ready to go in any direction the ball goes.

Fudge
Fudge wants to make sure everyone knows not to judge him by his breed. He does not have a Chihuahua attitude. He is not snappy or yappy like many others of his kind. He is happy and wiggly and wants to be loved by everyone, he just doesn't know how yet, but could learn quickly in the right environment with the right family.

Pumpkin
Don't judge a book by its cover. Pumpkin looks like just an ordinary brown dog, but she is approximately 10 pounds of personality. She is the ultimate lap warmer. She wants nothing more than love and attention and will return that ten-fold. She will squeeze her way in amongst other dogs to make sure she is as close as possible to her people.

Milo!

Milo is the quietest, sweetest little dog. You'd almost never know he was around because when he isn't up, he's tucked safely into his bed, sound asleep. Despite Milo's age (about 10), he walks with a jaunty spring in his step, and will take you for a brisk outing around the neighborhood! It's when Milo's being walked that you can truly appreciate his personality. He's supposed to have long fur, but because he was so badly matted, he was shaved down to 1/4 inch. When we found him, his feet were incredibly matted with fur and chewing gum, and his nails had grown long and curved under towards his pads - poor kid!. He needs to go out a lot, or he will have accidents, so he is best suited for someone who is home most of the day and able to take him out frequently. We believe that Milo never really knew what love was all about. When he first arrived here and joined his new foster human and dog family, he would shake whenever you tried to pet him. Affectionate human contact seemed a totally foreign concept to him. He lingers more and more each day to be petted, and is getting used to sitting on your lap for a little while. Milo only weighs nine pounds right now and definitely needs to gain some. We don't know how long he was out there, wandering around scared and lost, but we're trying our best to make him feel more confident and to add a couple of pounds. Bruno!

Bruno is beautiful 5-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever mix of the male persuasion. He and his pal, Blade were owned by an elderly man who recently passed away. Unfortunately, the hapless dogs became the property of his two sons who were more interested in drugs than caring for these two sweet animals. When a tow-truck driver arrived on the property to remove a car, he was asked if he knew anyone who would shoot the dogs for $50. The driver made a call and was told to bring them back to the tow yard immediately. Blade (the Rotti mix you see in one of the pics) is also up for adoption. Bruno & Blade are without their former family members and are waiting for their new leash on life! They recently went to a Bobbi & the Strays adoption event where they charmed everyone silly. Bruno is very affectionate and in order to canoodle, would climb onto the lap of one of the volunteers, who would loudly proclaim 'Bruno, you're not a lap dog!' which always got a laugh from the crowd. Bruno is very sweet and loving, and a handsome devil too. He does not get along with cats or small dogs but is fine with dogs his own size. Bala!

Bala is very outgoing, charming and SWEET! She likes to play around, go for walks and seems to love the women (not that there's anything wrong with that LOL). Bala is a real cuddler with the softest fur going. She gives you those puppy dog eyes and you just melt!! Bala can be dominant over other dogs, so it may be better if she's your only pooch. Bala is only about a year and a half old, spayed and up to date with her vaccines. She was just left at a boarding facility by her previous "caretaker". Little sad head Bernice =( As you can see from her eyes, she seems to be carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. Makes me well up as I write this. Baby Bernice is only about 11 months old. She was found all alone in the street just looking for someone to help her find her way. Bernice is is very friendly and affectionate. You can tell she loves people by the way she perks up when you come to say hello =) She's on the small side - smaller than she looks in the photos. She is around 35 lbs. or so and on the muscular side, but by no means a large dog. Bernice is energetic, but not so much that she can't be handled. Oreo Cookie!

Oreo is an amazing dog. He shows incredible loyalty and devotion. He gets attached to people quickly and would shower his new owner with love and affection. He's about 3 years old and about 55 lbs. He loves to roll in the grass and be scratched on his back. Every time you take him out for a walk, he thanks you with a big hug and lots of kisses when he comes back! He likes chew toys like nylabone, which keeps him busy for hours, and he likes to play fetch. Oreo is also known to just relax strewn across your lap! He has a beautiful brown and black coat and the most expressive brown eyes you have ever seen. One look into those eyes and you will feel as if you have found a friend you have known forever. This is Gizmo! Lady Godiva!

Lady G is a beautiful animal - hence her name :o) Just look at those soulful eyes. She's two and half years old, spayed and up to date with her vaccinations. Right now she is a little heartbroken. We can tell she is still waiting for her owner to come back for her... but she is great with all people and is a sweetheart and will make a great forever pet in a loving household. She's a little too strong for small children, but under adult supervision or if they are teens it should be fine. She does okay with dogs if introduced slowly, but she can play rough - hey she's a puppy at heart and she's ONLY playing =) Lady G is housebroken and non destructive (except for shoes LOL - she loves to chew on shoes so make sure you put yours in your closet - it's nice to be neat anyway). Lady Godiva is very affectionate and as soon as you pet her she rolls over for belly rubs!! She's a sweetheart of a dog and will immediately become a member of the family. Sheba!

Sweet Sweet Sheba!! The perfect pet for so many reasons!! She's about 3 years old and has the most gorgeous brindle coloring - she's just beautiful and is a perfect size at about 50 lbs. Sheba has a lot of spunk and wants someone to play with and maybe go on long walks. Hey - she's a good pooch to help you with that exercise you've been putting off! She likes to play with toys and will try and get you to chase her once she has the toy in her mouth - how cute!!. She thinks she's a lap cat and will try and sit in your lap so she can cover your face with kisses :o) Sheba is a perfect dog but she doesn't seem to get along with other pets (she definitely will chase cats or other small animals).. So while she has to be the only dog, its not like you can't walk her down the street or take her to the park. She LOVES people. She will kiss your face till she's sure she has kissed every inch of it!! She is VERY playful and she is a great power walker - come on get out there and get rid of that spare tire with Sheba! Sheba can be the motivation you need! Sheba can sometimes be wary of strangers, but once she knows you, she loves you. For this reason, we would like to place her in a home with adults. Completely housebroken too! What more can you ask for!! She just wants someone to love her and when you give her attention, her whole body shakes like she is dancing and her tail starts wagging so fast. She is just a doll! Valentino!

Valentino is the sweetest, cutest, most affectionate loving dog ever. He gets so happy when he sees people his whole body wiggles with excitement! He will cover your whole face in kisses if you let him. He shows the same happiness when meeting other dogs (this is just meeting through our fences at the moment). Valentino is smallish for a pitty boy - around 40 lbs. or so. He won't get any bigger because he's about a year or 2 old - just perfect! Oh and did I mention he's house broken? What a cutie! This is a bad picture of a really SWEET rotti mix girl who LOVES everyone she meets, including other dogs. She is completely housebroken, walks well on a leash, and just loves to play and give kisses. We aren't sure how she will be with cats, but when she saw our cats in cages at the shelter she seemed to be afraid of them! Natasha is about a year old. He was saved after being abandoned for 3 weeks, and brought to us. Thanks Amanda and Joe.
Left to brave the elements and biting cold, outside with no shelter, food or water, he was so happy to be in someones arms!
Absolute sweetheart, soaking up the love, very smart, well behaved.
LOVES KIDS, but is strong and likes to jump up sometimes so we don't recommend a home with children under 10.
He listens well when told no and down. Is learning other basic commands.
Great with Dogs, Needs a PitBull experienced home or some training to stop the jumping. Cats unknown.

Is in a Foster Home and is very loved, but is still awaiting his forever family to take him home!

Frankie is a female APBT, brindle, approx 1 & 1/2 y/o,
spayed and UTD on shots.

She is great with kids, dogs, and even cats!! See our *more pics* section for pics!

She's good on leash, housetrained with doggie door and kennel trained. She is sensitive, responding best to positive reinforcement, not harsh or loud punishment,it makes her very sad. She does like to chew when left alone, has been through training but chews when sepreated from her humans and left unkenneled. She loves to be with her humans, and needs a home she won't be kenneled in for longer than 5-6 hours at a time.

Weighing approx. 70 lbs, (she thinks it's more like 7)
she loves to be on your lap, and doesn't understand she's a heavy girl! LOL

If this dogs owner chained him all his life (OVER A YEAR), I hope this dogs former owner is confined to a hospital for as long in restraints! It's not the dogs fault so please repost this and lets find this dog a home.

Claws is a 15 Month old NM Newfi Mix who has been chained his whole life. His owner became ill and Claws ended up at the county shelter.

He is high energy, very friendly, hasn't had much experience with other animals, but loves to sniff and wag through the kennels.

They are out of state adoption/rescue friendly. I also have a contact that can help you if needed. A transport to New England goes through once a week for a fee.

They will do all vax, and heart worm test on request.

Can't someone help this beautiful exhuberant young man actually have a chance at life?

This is Jerry.... Jerry hated the shelter. He was adopted during his stay and returned after a week because "the owner realized he didnt want a dog anymore". Nice huh? I don't know what kind of human being could give this dog up. HE IS A BIG AFFECTIONATE MUSH BALL!!! He looooves to give kisses and would cuddle for hours if you had the time!

He is a 1 1/2 year old beagle mix. He is 38 lbs of love. Jerry seems relatively housetrained, although he may need some more training do to not ever having a stable life (he was originally found as a stray that nobody claimed). This boy WAS scared at the shelter, adn so depressed. But once he trusts you, he is overjoyed that somebody cares and will not stop kissing you (he got me in the eye, mouth and nose on our way back from the shelter...he was so happy). This is a male, Bull Terrier mix, probably between 1-2 years. Originally found in a dumpster, his current family cared for him, he is good with the kids and other dogs. Problem, they have a Pit mom with pups that just attacked him, protecting her pups, no question. However, the only response I am getting from them while I provide first aid is: "I have to get him out of here, now." So, here we are with another wonderful dog desperately needing a home. This is PAWS! He's absolutely gorgeous and a sweetheart.
Cuddle Bug and Chin Nibbler. Approximately 1 years old,
he and his brother were abandoned when his family moved
out of their rental home. He's microchipped but wasn't registered.
We don't know what happened to his brother, when he was
saved his brother was no where to be found. He was saved
and brought to us. Thanks Amanda and Joe.
Hadn't eaten for a few weeks, left to brave the elements and
biting cold, outside with no shelter, food or water. Absolute
sweetheart, soaking up the love, very smart, well behaved.
LOVES KIDS, but is strong and likes to jump up sometimes
so we don't recommend a home with children under 8. Is
following the down command now, most of the time. Great
with Dogs,( very submissive) Cats unknown. Housetrained,
is now using the doggie door!! Little skinny from not eating but
is enjoying his new food and adapting well. Ears are cropped,
seems the previous owners didn't take the stitches out so they are
jagged. Will be neutered before adopted, NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE

I want to introduce you all to �Sprinkles�, a 2 year old female Pit Bull.
I rescued her from the Salinas Animal Shelter last Friday, February 2.
She was scheduled to be put down that day, but the day before, I was
contacted and asked if I could save her. The people at the Shelter had
fallen in love with her and kept her as long as possible, but Sprinkles was
out of time. Sprinkles was spayed, micro-chipped, and vaccinated and is in
a wonderful foster home until we can find the perfect home for her. Sprinkles
was used to breed puppies and then dumped on the streets of Salinas to fend
for herself. Despite this mistreatment, Sprinkles is one of the most wonderful
dogs I have met. I picked her up Friday and took her home to care for her.
While she recovered, we slept together on some cushions on my living room
floor. I don�t know if Sprinkles had ever been cuddled with, as she as not
sure at first how to respond to me laying next to her. By the end of the first
night though, she slept soundly next to me and from then on out, always had
to be touching me when we slept. I took her to her foster home in Yuba
City Sunday, and it nearly broke my heart to part from her. I just never
wanted to let her go. She has the most soulful loving eyes and sweet gentle
demeanor. She will make a loyal and loving companion and some family
will be so very lucky to adopt her. One lady at the Shelter said she has
worked there 7 years, and yet no other dog has touched her heart quite
like Sprinkles. I think Sprinkles needs to be the only dog in the house.
I did not get to introduce her to my dog, as the vet advised that she should
be �dog free� until recovered from her surgery. Her foster momma tells me,
however that she has growled at her dogs through the door and put her
hackles up. It may just be stress, but better safe than sorry. So, I am
looking for someone who will take her in and give her the love and
friendship she so badly deserves. I am happy to make arrangements
to transport her to the perfect home!!!!
