William Haskins is a freelance writer and editor with more than a decade of experience in writing for print, web, videogames, and the screen.

Currently a writer/producer on BURNING MAN: BEYOND BLACK ROCK, a feature-length documentary on the Burning Man arts festival, William recently completed his comedy screenplay SOUTHPAW SIMMONS and maintains a busy freelance schedule.

In 2001-02, William was Editor-in-Chief of SubstanceTV, a DVD-based magazine devoted to video segments on contemporary art and culture. In addition to writing and overseeing content for the publication’s website, he contributed to the production of more than a dozen interviews, profiles and short documentaries.

Prior to SubstanceTV, William worked for two years as Senior Editor for videogame publisher GodGames, during which time he authored two strategy guides and more than half a dozen game manuals, and crafted character dialogue for major PC game releases, including the Blair Witch series and Max Payne.

In 1997, William joined Dallas-based game developer ION Storm as a staff writer. He was named Director of Web Operations in 1998 and, over the next year, oversaw the content development of websites for Daikatana, Anachronox, and Deus Ex.

William published his first short fiction and poetry while studying English at Louisiana State University. He lives with his wife and children in Austin, Texas.
