Elaine the trainer of Harwood Village was at a complete loose end after her former troupe
(Heybury Aces) had joined up with Ambassadors and then subsequently been disbanded.
She looked around for a while and then decided to start again from scratch.
So in September 1999 Harwood Village Morris Dance Troupe was formed.
It was a completely new troupe with girls who had never seen morris dancing before,
yet alone tried it.
The little girls made their debut in the spring of 2000 and were delighted to come away with
1st in the baby line and 2nd in the dinky line.
The two lines continued throughout that season and eventually two little boys joined.
( We had to be politically correct and allow this.)
There was a small article in the local newspaper and soon after we gained new recruits.
From there on our troupe grew and we were asked to start a night in Darwen.
We know have 55 girls who regularly dance out with us .
We are always ready to welcome children or adults,
complete beginners or experienced dancers who are looking for somewhere to dance.
Why not come along and give us a try?
The lovely uniforms we wear are provided free to regular girls.
How is that for a good value hobby?
This season we are dancing with KMDO. Please take a look at their new website
