Graham IV Geothermal Ice Arena
Location: Olmsted County Fairgrounds - Rochester, MN
Start Date: September 18, 2006
Job Description: A new Geothermal Recreational Facility with a ground heat exchanger, dehumidification, in-seat heat, radiant floor heat and ice surface with a buffer. When complete, this facility will be environmentally friendly, energy efficient and will provide substantial cost savings as well as an efficient and reliable ice surface to be used for hockey and figure skating. After all, "It's all about the Ice!"

Work has started on the geothermal well-field for Graham IV. We will be putting in 5 trenches
9-25-06
We have completed 3 of the 5 trenches. The fourth trench has been dug but we have yet to install the tubing and backfill. Well-field should be completed by the beginning of next week.

All 5 trenches for the well-field are complete! We are hoping to start on the header trench next week. The General Contractor is nearly finished with the site excavation for the rink itself. Work on the footings will start in mid-October.

The footings have been started andwe are working on the trench for the 6" supply and return that runs from the well-field to the arena. This trench runs accross a parking lot so a layer of black top has to be removed before we can dig the trench. This makes the process a little longer; we will continue to work on this trench for the next couple of weeks. Remember to check out the photo album for Graham IV!

My apologies to everyone that has been checking for new pictures over the winter. The last 4 months we have been working on plumbing, radiant floor heat and the in-seat heat. I am going to upload some of those pictures today so be sure to check them out. The rink floor installation begins on Monday amd we will be following that pretty closely with pictures. This is where it starts to get exciting again!

Graham I Geothermal Ice Arena Conversion
Location: Olmsted County Fairgrounds - Rochester, MN
Start Date: July 2007
Job Description: Conventional Arena is being converted to a Geothermal Arena. We are installing a ground exchanger, replacing headers and installing low temperature water to water heat pump units. With these changes come substantial energy savings and dependable ice all rolled up into an environmentally friendly package!
