Hannah initially began her painting life in 1994 when she completed an Arts Access course at her local college in Merthyr Tydfil, studying under Mr Martin Dallimore-Jones.

Having successfully finished the course, a bout of ill health prevented her from going on to University at that time. However, she did not let the grass grow under her feet but went on to study embroidery techniques. she struggled at first to find her artistic voice until she was introduced to the medium of silk painting and the work of Mandy Southan.

In 2005 following three years of study with the Swansea Institute she graduated with a BA(Hons) in General Illustration and Design.

She has since studied Silk painting at the Inkberrow Design centre and now incorporates stitch and dye techniques on different weights of silk.

Her particular interest of recent times is in the ancient art of stump work which was very popular in the 17th century where much of their work was padded and raised up from the surface.

She is at present researching embroidery techniques using the marvellous resources of the Victoria and Albert Museum of London.
