Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) is a collaboration of a diverse group of organizations and citizens trained to meet community needs should a large-scale natural or man-made disaster occur. VOAD coordinates planning efforts and, during a disaster, matches community needs with services provided by member VOAD agencies. This cooperative effort has proven to be the most effective way for a wide variety of volunteers and organizations to work together in a crisis.
