Welcome to Hands-on St. Clair County, Alabama!
Hands-on St. Clair County is a Program of Hands-on Birmingham (HOB). HOB helps volunteer groups in St. Clair County by promoting their projects and finding the volunteers that they need to get their projects completed. By posting their project information on the Hands on Birmingham website, we can work together to "get the word out" to those in our community. In cooperation with the St. Clair County EMA and United Way, we are forming a VOAD, or Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters, and making preparations for the set-up of Volunteer Reception Centers. The VOAD is a group of non-profits, government agencies, and volunteer organizations who join together to create an efficent response plan, should a large scale disaster strike St. Clair County. By working together, we can create a plan to manage volunteers and donations, while utilizing volunteers' talents and ablilites to meet the most pressing needs during and after a disaster. With this website, we hope to provide you with information regarding the St. Clair County VOAD, Volunteer Reception Centers, disaster Information related to this county, and volunteer opportunities in St. Clair County. We will be posting VOAD meeting dates, times, and locations; as well as other materials used in those meetings.
