Hamsters are rodents that are nocturnal,nocturnal means they sleep in the day and wake up in the night.There are lots of different kinds of hamsters inculding golden hamsters,Golden Hamsters is the most popular of the 24 species of that are indigenous to Asia,China,and Europe.The Golden Hamsters scientific name is Mesocricetus auratus.Another type of hamster is the Chinese striped hamster.It ranges across northern Asia in Siberia,Mongolia and northern China.The Chinese striped hamsters scientific name is Cricetulus griseus.One of my favorite types of hamsters is the Winter White dwarf hamster,it is from Mongolia Manchuria,Siberia and sections of China.It is about 4 inches long.It's scientific name is Phodopus sungorus.

The best bedding for hamsters is probally Aspen.Cedar should'nt be used for hamsters and pine only if it is kiln-dried to remove the aromatic phenols that can cause respiratory irritation.
