Hamrun Spartans FC Youth Nursery have just ended their commitments at the Manchester International Summer Cup 2008 and will be returning to Malta with one cup and two finalists cups. This is a great achievement when one considers that all three categories taking part - the Under 10s, Under 12s and the Under 14s - managed to reach three finals.
The Under 14 team managed to make all Malta proud and won the Cup after beating Brandon Bees in the final. The boys will be proudly displaying the trophy won during the inauguration of the new pitch at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Monday.
The Under 10 category reached the final and, on their way, they managed to win all the seven matches they had played. In the final, they lost to FC Hyde. On their part, the Under 12s managed to win 4 matches and losing only one on their way to the finals. In the final, they lost by a single goal, which came from a penalty, against CMB, against whom they had won earlier in the competition.
The contingent of 44 players, 8 officials and 33 parents found time to visit Old Trafford and the City of Manchester Stadium during their free time. The Under 14s, the Under 12s and the Under 10s played the first friendly matches yesterday evening against Bridge Colts. The results were as follows: Under 14 vs Bridge Colts 6-1; Under 12 vs Bridge Colts 11-1; Under 10 vs Bridge Colts 6-0. Today, the opponents were Urmston and the following results were obtained: Under 14 vs Urmston T 2-2; Under 12 vs Urmston T 10-1; Under 10 vs Urmston 4-4.

The Hamrun Spartans FC Youth Nursery will be represented by three teams, an under 10 team consisting of 10 players, an under 12 team of 17 players and an under 14 team composed of 17 players. The players will be accompanied by eight officials and 33 parents all led by Nursery Tournaments Director Noel Debattista.
“A number of international teams will be participating in The Manchester International Summer Cup 2008 and this will give the nursery and the players a great experience. Apart from participating in the tournament, the contingent will be visiting Old Trafford and the City of Manchester Stadium Museums during their free time.”, said Noel Debattista

A group of 44 players accompanied by 8 coaches and officials together with 33 parents will fly to Manchester next Saturday 26th July to participate in the Manchester International Summer Cup. The group leaves Malta to Gatwick airport and will travel to Manchester by coach. The categories, u/10, u/12 and u/14 will play 3 friendly matches between Monday and Tuesday before the start of the Tournament on Wednesday. The teams will play 6 games in three days with the finals being played on Friday afternoon.
Apart from playing football, the group will visit Manchester City’s Stadium on Monday afternoon and Old Trafford Stadium on Tuesday morning. Sunday will be spent at the massive Alton Towers Theme Park. The group will arrive back to Malta on Sunday 3rd August at 2:00am
