Rocadian

Rovers Online understands that in the coming weeks Hampton Rovers could change their name to the Arcadian Hotel. The news has not been confirmed yet, but for many of the blues fans this will come as a bit of a shock and many fans will wonder why the sudden change of the name. More as it happens.

Referee's

With the recent documentary on Sky Sports about Referee's and how behaviour on a Sunday League Football is getting out of control, Rovers Online wish to show their support for referee's as this type of behaviour has occured whilst Rovers were actually playing. Rovers had a player kicked in the head and was lucky that the player in question was not damaged seriously. On Sky Sports a referee spoke out earlier this week abou how he had been hit in the head and was in a coma and was out of work for 4 years. The referee in question cannot bare to now watch a Sunday League Football Match.

Latest News...

12/12/03

It is believed that Hampton Rovers may be on the verge of completing the signing of Barney Woolcock from Division 2b side, Print Plus. It is reported that the player became disillusioned with life at the struggling club and has decided to focus on helping Hampton Rovers fight to remain in Division 1. The formalities of the deal look set to take place over the weekend and Woolcock will hopefully join Rovers for the Christmas period of games.

Other tranfser speculation sees Rovers linked with an un-named goalkeeper. It is unclear who the target is, or even who he plays for as manager Billy Watt plays his cards close to his chest, but it is certain that Rovers look set to dip into the transfer market again before Christmas.

Rovers Looking To Strengthen

It appears Rovers manager Billy Watt has finally lost patience with his underachieveing players and is set to delve into the transfer market to bolster his threadbare squad. Watt has apparently lined up a number of host of trialists to help Rovers fight for Division 1 safety. It is believed that Watt is looking to bring in a goalkeeper to put pressure on current number 1 Lee Clayton and also hopes to add another striker and central defender to the ranks. A source close to Watt Snr said "Billy hopes to get another dominating centre half to play alongside Wayne Taylor and wants another striker to complement bang in form Chris Nay and Danny Whiteside. Its no secret that he's been looking for a goalkeeper either; he's been after one for a while but the right one never comes up at the right time". Watt has already run the rule over one trialist recently and looks to do the same to more as he bits to halt Rovers inconsistent form.

Morton Linked With Moves

Hampton Rovers defender / midfielder Lee Morton appears to be at the centre of a shock transfer tussle between Mechanics SFC and Bloomfield WMC and has also been tipped for a move to Premier League champions Mammas. Mechs have stated their interest in the player by saying "Morty would be more than welcome at Mechs" but it would be unclear where he would be asked to play. With the emergence Mark Webster through the ranks, manager Billy Watt could afford to let Lee go but would be reluctant to let him go to a rival team. The move to Bloomfield would come as more of a shock to player and manager as there appears to be no history beween the two but the ambitions of the player may lead to a move. A move to Mamma's would appear unlikely though but if an approach were to be made to Watt it is said he wouldnt stand in the players way.
