Costume Crafts

Mummy Costume
Wear a white sweat suit. Tear strips from a large white sheet and have someone help you tie them all around you. Paint your face white, with darker circles around your eyes. To look even better sprinkle powder or flour in your hair. And dip the strips of white fabric in cold tea or coffee and let them dry for a great effect!

Pumpkin Costume
Wear an oversized orange sweatshirt and dark colored sweatpants; if you can't find an orange sweatshirt, use fabric dye to make your own. Slip the sweatshirt on and stuff it with crumpled up newspapers to make it look rounded. You can use a belt or tie yarn around the bottom of the sweatshirt so the newspaper stays in place.
You can also make a jack-o-lantern face on the sweatshirt. if you like! Use fabric paint or piece of felt to make eyes, nose, and mouth.

Bunch Of Grapes Costume
Dress in a full green outfit. Blow up a few green balloons and pin them on! Simple!

Scarecrow Costume
Find some old baggy pants and shirt - holes are great! Tear 1 inch strips about 4-5 inches long out of yellowish colored fabric. Glue these so they hang out of the sleeves and neck opening of the shirt and also out of the bottom of the pant legs (make sure they are not so long out of the pant legs that you can trip).
To add some finishing touches, use scraps of different colored material and glue patches all over your pants and shirt. Top off your scarecrow costume with a straw hat and even a fake brid perched on your shoulder!

Skeleton Costume
Put on a black leotard and tights. Use white tape or chalk for ribs and bones. Put white makeup on your face, and use black for round your eyes.

Bunny Costume
Dress in pink leotard and pink tights. Make some ears out of constuction paper and attatch them to a pink, white or black headband.

Bat Costume
Dress in a full black costume. Using a black umbrella, rip it in half. Discard the center and innards of the umbrella. If you are fancy you can sew the edges of the umbrella to the back of your costume. If you don't have the time to sew it you can always safety pin it.

Clown Costume
Put on spotty or stripy clothes that are too large. If you don't have any spotty or stripy clothes at home, decorate by using either fabric paint, or markers. If you dare you could even try tie-die. Tack on some large pop-poms, add a cheap wig, hat, and make-up. You may also stuff the extra space in clothing with tissue.
