This Side of Paradise

Formerly Southern Skies, this is a website devoted to the Logs and life of Gwen, Blue Saeynth's rider, at Southern Weyr on Soucon. An Alt Pern MUSH. On Soucon AIVAS was never discovered, though expansion in the south continued. There are six Weyrs on Soucon, though only two of them are PC, four of these appeared or were mentioned in the Dragonriders of Pern series. The six Weyrs of Soucon are Southern (PC), Ierne (PC), Southern Barrier, Honshu, Monaco and Xanadu. It is at Southern Weyr that Gwen, rider of Turbulent Sea Blue Saeynth makes her home.

Soucon is currently accepting new players for Southern Weyr's upcoming Search Cycle. If you've dreamed of riding a dragon, then now is the time! There aren't many details yet concerning Search, and some of them will have to remain a mystery until the Hatching itself. But that's all part of the fun!

What? You haven't heard of Dragonrider's of Pern before? That's okay. Between Soucon's, Southern Weyrs, and various other character sites, you should have all the details necessary to play.

Soucon is a MUSH. That stands for Multi- User, Shared Hallucination. It's a consent based roleplaying game that operates around Anne Mc Caffrey's world of Pern. There are many other MUSHes, including Harper's Tale, Norcon, Dragonsfire, and others. There are even MUSHes based on other universes, including Pokemon, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Star Trek and other science fiction or fantasy universes. So even if you aren't into Pern, or know nothing about it, a quick Google Search just may lead you to a MUSH that will keep you interested for years to come.

So sit back and enjoy the site. And remember, look to the Southern Skies, and build a future in paradise!

Its been three years RL since I joined up with my first Pern game. I am now a membership of several. Soucon, PernMUSH, Frostfire, Pernworld, Virtua Pern. All but the latter are represented here.

Heyla all... here's the skinny.

I have two new alts, and I'm retiring Kailai, not sure if its for good yet.

Alt number one, of course, is J'aiya and Tribal Drumbeat Bronze Shizarith. As you can see, there's nothing under his bio yet. I'm working on that. I'm still going to need a picture of Jiraiya and a picture of Renji for that.

I also have Aoriya and Divine Passage of Flame Brown Omasuth. Aoriya's bio will be up soon enough. I just need to find one really good headshot of Kukaku from Bleach.

Also, from now on all characters from the same game will have their stats under the same page. So every Soucon alt will be under Soucon. Every Pernworld alt under Pernworld, etcetera etcetera.

Gwen's got IC kidlet number two on the way. And Jazra and Liaoth are starting a victim list of their own.

Firelizard stats are being updated for all characters including pics of namesakes if I can find them.

New logs will be coming in as soon as I can edit them well enough.

Game theme summeries are now under "A History of Pern." along with the official website for each.

Gwen's got a new child. Baby Merissa. I named her after the song Merissa, which was the first Japanese theme for Full Metal Alchemist. The song was too pretty not to name a child after. But she's also named after Merianya, the now deceased Weyrsecond and rider of brown Edanth. Though Saeynth couldn't remember her name, Gwen sure could, and in her mind the woman will never be forgotten.

There's also a new alt in town. Kiyone, named for the bossy Bleach 3rd Seat of the same name, of Unified's healer hall. I'm hoping for craft approval for an apprentice ship, and with three other apprentice healers there's enough for actual classes.

OOC Labor on the next PernMUSH fl clutch continues. Please, be patient! Any anime fan is going to love this one!

Another year over, another year gone.

Search has come once again to Southern Weyr. I'm so happy to be sitting on a co again! Please come to Soucon and have fun with us!

I also made Mastery on Pernworld, congratulations to Kagora!

There had been a shakeup at Ierne Weyr. Leadership there has been converted to OOC rather than IC. The Weyrleader and Weyrwoman positions have gone NPC. A leadership council will be created there instead.

Jazra is very likely to leave PernMUSH soon, I've applied to transfer her to Ierne Weyr on Soucon.

I'm working on a Weyr crafts page. As well as a Weaver Books section. Any Weaver or Weyrcraft books will be linked in from LJ. They will further be linked to wherever I submit them to. They are my property, therefore there is no copywrite issue with the games, because they're my instructions that I'm lending.

 

Gwen and Katry have entered Dragonhealing classes, so has Aoriya on Pernworld. Links for them will come up as needed. Likewise, the link to Soucon's dragonhealing site has been added to the links section. All members of Soucon who would like to become a dragonhealer must speak with Fiora for information on lessons.

Cues "Number 1" as she starts up the update machine!

Jazra's new desc, background, and some notes about possible changes to Liaoth are going up tonight. I'm not changing Liaoth's desc, and I know that its not usually considered nice to change a personality drastically. So mostly with her I'll be winging it, but a slight facelift would be a good one, and its really been so long since I've played Liaoth for any consecutive amounts of time, my apologies to C'len my good man, but I can't really remember the way I used to play her or giving her any new personality or making her mine. So I'm going to do my best to wing it with her.

Either way, I'm not going to remove the PernMUSH page unless I need the space for something. But its not going to be added too, Jazra's firelizards Schiffer, Biya, Squiggle, Hagaren and Mancha (bless his sundrenched heart!) are all being listed as having gone wild. Jazra has two new firelizards, I really hope you'll love them just as much! Brown Foxli and blue Listhium.

Major additions to logs are going to go up. Unfortunately I've been too busy to edit, but there's the log for the candidate ball, and some serious prankster s--t that hit the fan. Also, poor Delynni was left standing again.

And new logs with Jazra are incoming! Woot! We're cooking with gas again! Light my fire baby! :) :) :)

Its been a hundred and fifty years since AIVAS aided the Pernese in destroying thread once and for all. And Pern is struggling to reinvent itself. For over 2500 turns the graceful dragons have fought thread in the skies. What are their riders to do when there is no more thread to fight? What do soldiers do without an enemy to defend against?

 This is the golden age of pern, and yet there are still dangers out there. Natural disasters and renegades are common problems, dud dragon eggs are more common, and the queens lay far fewer than they did in the days of golden Ramoth.

Pern is undergoing a drastic, beautiful and sometimes violent metamorphosis. Dragonriders don't always live in Weyrs anymore, and are permitted to hold a rank in the crafthalls (though they cannot hold mastery.) Dolphineers ply the waters with their partners, guiding the seacrafters through rough weather. The Yokohama has become a space station and observatory. Landing is a bustling center of education and research. Ierne Island has become a trading post for craftriders out to make an independant living. Xanadu is home to a bustling dragonhealer teaching hospital. The computer, tech, plastic and printercrafts are all thriving.

Pern is finally becoming the peaceful paradise it was meant to be, 2555 turns ago.

This is the world of Aoriya. A wingleader impressed to Divine Passage of Flame brown Omasuth. Brute strong and hot tempered, Aoriya and Omasuth are in charge of Damascin, Igen Weyr's security wing. A journeywoman jeweler and clever with her fingers, Aoriya is a loyal and restless spirit who takes her job, and her duties seriously.

This is the world of Delynni. Formerly in training to be a Runnerbeast jockey, Delynni stood at six hatchings before finally impressing Curious and Clever Moody blue Ryukith at the seventh. A weyrling at Xanadu Weyr, Delynni's impulsive tendancies and Ryukith's insatiable curiousity get them in all kinds of trouble. Delynni's family are all high achieving runnerbreeders, and she comes from a line that has produced more than one Beastmaster over the years. As Ryukith grows to adulthood, Delynni struggles to grow and define her own path both as a rider and a human being.

This is the world of Kagora. Aoriya's older sister, Kagora is a highly talented gownmaker. After much hard work, Kagora has earned the rank of apprenticemaster in the weavercraft. Calm and down to earth, she is a dedicated mentor to the apprentices she teaches. Kagora's strength is her patience and professionalism, but can she develop a personal life that is equally as rich as her talent?

This is the world of Aeyric, journeyman wherhandler of bronze Aesk. Aeyric is a dreamer, whom some believe looks more like a Harper than a miner. From his earliest days in the craft, Aeyric has been obsessed with discovering what secrets lie beneath the surface of Pern's soil. His pet project is to discover and excavate stone bones and delicate black outlines of leaves long since rotted to the turns. Endlessly curious, Aeyric struggles to gain validity for his theories in a craft that has never been more down to earth. Dreams are for harpers and dragonriders, not for a miner who must keep his eyes on his shovel and his heart in the earth.

This is the world of M'ori, rider of Renegade Nightmare bronze Uluameth. A calm and understated persona, M'ori is the quintessential 'nice guy.' Father of three, weyrmate of his darling greenrider Coselia, M'ori is a weaver struggling to open a clothing shop in bustling Ierne Weyrhold. Fiercely protective of his rider's dreams, Fortian Hatched Uluameth must prod his rider into further reaching ambitions. After all, there is so much more to life than just the mate and children.

This is the Pern of peace, this is the pern of turmoil, this is the pern the founders envisioned, before their dreams dissolved in a silver hail of hell.

I've been a member of Seven Spindles for awhile now. My character is R'yn and elegant companion green Donath. Their information is up and logs will follow.
