dont forget
"go on you know you want to be there"
The Guzzlers headed off over to the Cheshire countryside on the weekend of August 4th & 5th to attend Bones’ 2nd classic car show, and what a time we had!
He’d laid on a couple of great Rockabilly bands for entertainment, which was handy seeing as how all but one of us who attended was into that kind of music! Fellow member Carl Gunther played bass with his band The Wild Kats (NW) and they rocked up a storm.

In true Guzzler fashion we arrived just before lunch, set up camp and relaxed with a beer or two while Daz cooked up a storm on the Barby, in fact most of the people who turned up for the show had a sample of Daz’s cooking at some point during the weekend!

There were a lot of nice cars on the field including this fantastic kustom Buick of Dave’s from Wigan and a large contingent of the Three Graces Car Club from the Manchester area.

It was a very relaxing sort of show with a friendly atmosphere and great surroundings too. Kev even found time for a quick hair cut! All who attended had a fantastic time and look forward to next year’s show!

Caerwys classic car show July 07
This years show saw a good turn out of Guzzlers kars and the debut of Collin Price’s Moggie Pick-up. The annual Caerwys show is always popular and has a great auto jumble, a real bonus when trying to find those hard to get bits!

Collins Mog gets lots of interest!

It’s a great looking british rod.

Bones’s car got the crowds around it too!

Wales Air Ambulance.
The Guzzlers kar klub try to support local charities when we can by attending local chartable events and making collections for our chosen charity too. The charity of choice for 2006 was the Wales Air Ambulance, a vital service which is funded solely by charity.
The klub handed over a cheque to the W.A.A for
£800.00 and thank all the members for their hard work at our annual Show where most of the money was raised.

Christmas with The Guzzlers!
Daren Carney has owned his 1955 Chevy 4 door for about 7 years. It has a 350 small block V8 with a 350 t.h. box. Daz has done various bits and bobs to the car over the years including fitting a 4 barrel Holley carb on an Edelbrock manifold. He has also put some nice chrome smoothies with 1” whites on each corner.
After a while being off the road, Daz had a list of jobs as long as his arm to perform on the Chevy to get it looking the way he wanted and get it back on the road. With this in mind, fellow Guzzlers Richie Durant and Doug Robinson offered to give up their Christmas holidays and pitch in.
Fellow Guzzler Phil Leigh gave the use of his workshop and equipment.

Dusty Daz looking pleased with the progress.
As Daz had already sourced some new sills, we decided to tackle them and repair the rear quarters, and of course the usual “it won’t take long” turned out to be a huge understatement! After removing several decades of poor repairs for what seemed like days on end, they eventually managed the task in hand, but with Phil’s business set to re-open, they only just met the deadline!

Richie removing some of those nasty repairs. New sills on, rear quarters done, ready for home.
Daz hopes to have the Chevy on the road for 2007, he’s got a leopard skin interior already stitched and plans a cool Tequila Sunrise Pearl paint job together with some ghost leopard skin flames!! Now you don’t see that every day!!
Rockabilly Boogie Weekender 2005
|
The first weekend in September saw the arrival of the sunshine and hundreds of rockabilly fans descended on Prestatyn for what would be a fantastic weekend of cars, music and alcohol. |
Lined up, ready to go!
|
|
Ok guys, you’ve seen the sea, this Way to the pub!
|
The Guzzlers, being the local car club, are now the official organisers of the Boogie weekender car cruise, which takes place on the Sunday morning. |
|
This year saw approximately 25 classics and rods take to the streets of North Wales to frighten the natives. From the Pontin’s site, the cruise wound it’s way through Prestatyn, Rhuddlan, Abergele and ended up at the Beachcomber pub. All the local guys and girls found it most amusing when the cruise came to a stop in the car park, there was a mass exodus to the sea defences so all the townies could look at the Irish Sea! |

|
|
After chilling outside the Beachcomber in the glorious sunshine, it was a real effort to get back in your car and cruise back to the site. The return journey took in the promenade at Rhyl, which made for a great spectacle with all the tourists eyes poppin’ and fingers pointing. All in all, it made for a fantastic Sunday morning which contributed greatly to the weekend’s entertainment. |
Glan Clwyd Hospital Toy Run 2005
December 2005 saw the first Guzzlers Toy Run. The Toy Run was the brain child of club member Carl Gunther. He thought it would be good if the club could do something for a local charity and his wife Eirwen suggested the kids toy room at the local Accident & Emergency Department. (She happens to work there).
When Carl put it to the lads and lasses it set the ball rolling straight away with members digging deep in to their pockets!
We also collected at a couple of local shows and before long we had enough cash to buy the fantastic ‘activity cube’ which was on the top of the A & E’s wish list for the play room!

We set off on a very cold December Sunday morning with about nine cars in all and caused quite a stir when we arrived at the hospital and parked up in front of the A & E entrance (with permission of course).
After a short wait for the hospital staff to find a ‘quiet minute’ we presented the cube to the unit. The staff were very appreciative of all our efforts and thanked everyone .
The Guzzlers then set off in to the ‘sunset’ like all ’heroes’ do, to the nearest pub! All the ’guys’ at the club would like to thank Carl and Eirwen for their hard work in making this a successful day

The Prestatyn Car Show 2006
The Prestatyn Car Show is held every year right in the town centre. This was the first time the Guzzlers Car Club had attended and we weren’t sure how we would be received by the local classic car clubs or the public. That never having stopped us before, we jumped in with both feet and before we knew it we had a designated area of our very own! What started as a very grey wet morning turned out to be a glorious sunny afternoon and with the sun came the complementary lunch laid on by the organisers! All had a great time and we are looking forward to a regular appearance from now on!

Ade’s 69 Dodge Coronet always gets lots of attention.

Andy’s Cooool Coronet Wagon sits just right and the sun scorched paint gives it the So Cal look

Hans’s 69 T’ Bird always looks neat in the sun with the top down.
