Greeley / Couser a NC!

World Wide Boxing put together a very evenly matched main event Friday night at the Hancock County Civic Center in Bay St.Louis, MS. Cliff “Rabid Dog” Couser (25-10-2) talked the talk, but when he got out of the ring he couldn’t walk the walk, in fact, he couldn’t walk at all.

His opponent Andrew Greeley (9-8-1) did a very good job of coming in as a spoiler. And spoil he did, as he beat Cliff Couser every which way he could, sweeping him on the Gulfcoastboxing.com scorecards for four rounds. In round five, it all changed, when part of the ring slipped, and Couser’s knee went with it. Couser walked very gingerly back to his corner, and minutes later it was declared by the doctor that he could not continue, much to the dismay of Greeley and his people. The fight was declared a no-contest.

Williams Decisions Verdin

In the co-feature Monroe’s Mikel “Mookie” Williams (4-9-4) got his second win in a row, this time against a very gritty Steve Verdin (5-22-2). This welterweight clash was just that, a clash. Both fighters came forward in the first two rounds, but after that it was all Williams, as picked his punches against the winded Verdin.

Foret Gets First Win!

Bay St.Louis super middleweight Paul “War Dog” Foret (1-5) got the first win of his career when he KO’d Tony Levron 1:19 into round 1. Foret came out working the jab. He then followed the jab with a right hand that hurt Levron. Foret followed with a barrage of punches that put Levron down for the count.

Newton TKO's Pursley

Debuting Griffin Newton (1-0) played the waiting game in his super middleweight bout against Jesse “Bird Man” Pursley (0-1). Pursley came out as the aggressor in round one, not landing much, but throwing punches, Newton did not attempt a punch in round one. In round two it was more of the same, with Newton punching a few times. In round three Pursley came out strong, but was tiring, and Newton knew it, as the 10 second bell sounded, Newton came on strong and landed a left hook to the body that hurt Pursley. Pursley held his ribs as he went into his corner, and he could not come out for the fourth and final round.

Marks Scores 56 Second KO!

In the knockout of the night, usually middleweight Zane Marks (7-2) moved up to the cruiserweight division to take on debuting Chris Snyder (0-1). The bout was made four hours prior to the start of the event. Marks came forward to start the bout, and 56 seconds later he captured his 7th career win, and his 4th first round knockout.
