Marks Scores Another Quick KO!

Golden Meadow, LA middleweight Zane “The Train” Marks (5-2) headlined another Cajun Fight Promotions/Pitbull Productions card this time at the Bayou Centroplex inGalliano, LA, and again Marks scored a knockout in under 30 seconds. This time against late sub Brandon Morris. Marks came out to some extraordinary fan fare, and again Marks’s entrance took longer then his fight as he invited all the kids in the crowd to join him in his entrance.

As for the fight, Morris (Crosset, AR) came out cold, and Marks took full advantage of it, as he jabbed his way in, and pinned Morris against the ropes. As that happened Marks smelled blood and unloaded with 15 unanswered body shots to the covered up Morris, the last one put Morris down for the count. The time was :28 seconds into round 1.

B. Verdin KO’s Lindsey

In the co feature, it took Bourg, LA’s Brad Verdin (10-7) a while to start up, but when he did he ended Lamont Lindsey’s party early. In the first 3 rounds, Lindsey seemed to confuse Verdin with his speed and awkward style. In round 4 Lindsey started to tire, and Verdin came on strong scoring with a lightning fast overhand right that dropped Lindsey, who could not get up, and had to be helped up by ringside doctors.

Aguila Draws With M. Verdin

In a lackluster light heavyweight affair, Dulac, LA’s “Smiling” Martin Verdin (6-6-1) and Harvey, LA’s Miguel Aquila fought to a majority draw. Both fighters looked very hesitant and rarely threw more than 2 punches at a time. Two judges saw it the same 57-57, and one saw it for Martin Verdin, 58-56, as did Gulfcoastboxing.com.

Bourg Destroy’s Tanslee

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Billy Bourg (2-1) came out with fire in his eyes as he pounded Lake Charles, LA’s Chris Tanslee (0-1). The bout ended 1:32 into round 1.

Comeback Kid Carline Wins!

In a cruiserweight battle, Brent Carline (1-0) was on the ropes for all of round 1, not throwing any meaningful punches. In round 2 the beating Carline was taking from New Roads, LA’s Stephan Louis (0-1) were starting to take effect, but a sudden roar from Brent’s father Darrin lit a fire under the young Carline, as he landed a nice 3 punch combination that startled Louis, while backing up Louis got hit with a straight right hand that sent him down. Louis got up but was unable to continue.

S. Verdin Edges Woods

The fight of the night award goes to Steve Verdin (5-20-1) and Marcus Woods (4-8), this was a back and forth battle that ended up going to Steve Verdin by way of majority decision. The best punch in the fight came seconds before the round 2 ended, Verdin scored with a clean and vicious body blow that seemed to take a lot of steam out of Woods, but to his credit he came back on won the 3rd round on the Gulfcoastboxing.com scorecards. GCB’s scorecards read 39-37 for Marcus Woods, the real judges scored the bout 39-37, 39-37, 38-38, the majority decision going to Steve Verdin.

Duplechain Stops Hale!

Jeremy “The Crusader” Duplechain (2-1) got back on the winning track Saturday night after he gave a lopsided beating to River Ridge, LA’s Al Hale (0-2). Duplechain showed his superior boxing skills throughout the first two rounds, even dropping Hale in round 2. Then in round 3, he turned up the action forcing Hale’s corner to throw in the towel.

Cotlong Quits, White Wins!

In the much anticipated debut of amateur heavyweight sensation “Lethal” Johnny White (1-0) scored a fast TKO victory over Derrick Cotlong (0-1). The action was going well until White landed a right cross that stunned Cotlong, and forced him to turn his back. When referee Russell Naquin got Cotlong to face his oppoent, Cotlong refused, thus awarding the fight to White.
