The Brawl at Town Hall

Marks Destroys Verdin!

In a super middleweight battle Golden Meadow, LA’s Zane “Freight Train” Marks (3-2) destroyed local hero “Smiling” Martin Verdin (6-5) in :14 seconds. The entrances took longer then the actual fight as Marks and his posse that consisted of PJ and Damien St.Pierre, trainers Mike Gordon and Lonnie Lerille, Rafael Pedro and Melvin Gulliot were escorted to the ring by 3 security guards. That entrance was then topped by Verdin’s which consisted of his family and 3 rappers.

When the action finally got underway, the fighters went straight to work as Verdin threw a jab that was countered by a right hook from Marks. The right hook stunned Verdin. Marks then threw a straight left that send Verdin down and out.

Folse Wins a Close One.

Cruiserweight Ricky “Pit Bull” Folse (3-2) had his hands full Saturday, as he was doubling as a promoter and fighter. Folse didn’t exactly pick the easiest fighter to get in the ring with as he took on fellow cage fighter Kenny Stevens (0-1) in a 4 round slugfest. Folse came out and was content to out box the smaller Stevens. In round 2 Folse countered Stevens, both fighters threw some major bombs, but very few of them landed. Round 3, Folse came out firing and landed a huge left hook that staggered Stevens. Folse continued to dominate the rest of the round, and towards the end pinned Stevens against the ropes and started unloading some brutal shots. In round 4, Stevens came out and landed some vicious body shots. In the middle of the round, there was a clash of heads that left Folse with a huge gash on the top of his head. At the end of the fight the all the scorecards looked the same 39-37 for Ricky Folse.

Verdin and Martinez Draw!

Local fighter/promoter Brad Verdin (9-7-1) had his hands full with Spanish veteran Eduardo “El Gato” Martinez (11-25-4). This was a full give and take affair with both fighters fighting in spurts. The earlier rounds went to Verdin as he was the aggressor, but then the veteran took over and starting to land the more solid punches. When it was all said and done the judges score cards read like this: 60-55, 57-57, 57-57.

Wilson and Carline a No Contest

In a much anticipated debut, cruiserweight Brent Carline got more than he bargained for. Blake Wilson (1-0) rushed the 17 year old Carline and dropped him twice early into the first round. Wilson seemed to have punched himself out, and Carline took full advantage dropping Wilson twice soon after; all this action in the first round! Carline then proceeded to throw a wild right hand that didn’t hit anything, but seemed to injure himself in doing so.

Verdin KO’s Sneeze

In his debut boxing match Justin Verdin (1-0) of Houma, LA battered Elton Sneeze (0-5). Verdin was on the prowl from the get go and landed uppercuts at will. Verdin dropped Sneeze with an uppercut in round one. In round 2 it was more of the same as Verdin connected with a straight right that sent Sneeze to the canvas. In round 3 Verdin was exhausted and Sneeze started landing shots of his own, but also seemed to be fatigued. Then :51 seconds into round 4 Verdin landed the final uppercut of the fight, as referee Kenny Licata halted the action.

Dixon Wins!

Super heavyweight “Big” John Dixon (4-22) took his fight with debut Patrick Latchney (0-1) on 10 hours notice, but it had little effect on the veteran Dixon as he KO’d his opponent in round 2 of their scheduled 4 round bout. Latchney was the aggressor in round 1, but seemed to use all of his energy in doing so. Towards the end of round 2 Latchney started to fade and dropped his hands. In doing so he left himself wide open. Dixon took advantage landing a right hook to the jaw that stunned and then dropped Latchney. This was Dixon’s first win since August of 2000.
