•An adult male Guinea Pig is called a boar and an adult female is called a sow.
•Guinea Pigs are rodents.
•A sow can have a litter size of between 1-13 pups with an average of 4 pups.
•
Pregnancy lasts around 59 to 72 days.


Feeding

 Here is a list of a FEW things guinea pigs eat:   

•Guinea pigs, like humans, cannot produce vitamin C and without it they can fall ill.
•They eat: Hay, grass, salad, carrots, parsley, celery, clover, dandelions, strawberries, apples, pears and many more!
•They also eat ready made treats that you can buy in stores .
•Guinea pigs DON’T eat meat! They are  100% vegetarian!
•Guinea pigs should always have access to fresh water.     


Life Span
 
•A Guinea pigs average life span is 4-8 years.
•A record!: The oldest recorded pet guinea pig was Snowball, from Nottinghamshire in England. Snowball died at a whopping age of 14 years and 10 months! Snowball died in February 1979.


Origins

Guinea Pigs originally come from Peru. They lived in the wild in the Andes Mountains. Nowadays there are no Guinea Pigs left in the wild, they are kept as pets in many different countries around the world. In Peru they use to eat Guinea Pigs on special occasions.
