Fun Stuff With Your Piggy |
OK i have completely revamped this page so that it is better for you and I to get along and understand each other.
Guinea pigs are not toys. They are animals, they communicate, eat, poop, urinate, love and think as we do. This does NOT stop us from having a bit of fun with our guinea pigs though does it! It INFURIATES me to see people putitng their guinea pigs down slides and on the trampoline! It just makes me so mad that someone can actually tihnk their pet will enjoy that. But we all learn from our mistakes and i do my best to educate others on what they are doing wrong but stay strict, firm but also kind. Here is a list of SAFE ideas with your guinea pigs!
-Photo shoots as long as they are as natural as possible, guinea pigs are sometimes hard to photograph if you do stupid things like posing them, go for natural and they'll pull their own poses that will look better because they are natural!
- Teaching your guinea pigs tricks. No they are not toys but they are not completely dumb either, they can learn things and also i do believe that this may increase their intelligence which can be handy in some situations.
-Just petting them and offering them treats! Don't overfeed don't overpat, guinea pigs can bite and though they rarely do it often people are patting away and not noticing their guinea pig becoming increasingly annoyed until it finally bites them. "But i was just patting Chuckles! I don't know why he bit me!" Don't say that because guinea pigs never do anything without a motive, this is where people could take a leaf out of a guinea pigs books!
-Giving them a good run around. Some people have litter-trained their guinea pigs and i have no idea if this is a good idea or not as i haven't actually done so but i suggest putting newspaper on the floor before you do this!!
-Watching. Observing is how i've learnt the most about guinea pigs, how the behave, what they want etc.
THat is all i can think of for now but believe me there are thousands more ways to play with your guinea pig that are safe. Every guinea pig is different so each one will have its own different games, ok that makes them sound like toys bout they aren't, what i mean to say is that only YOU can find what goes best with your cavy! They are NOT toys but they can be played with in a gentle and safe way! Don't treat them horridly, remember they are living beings and should gain your respect.

A Piggy Play Land |
Special Occasions aren't the only things that interest piggies, why not use your imagination to build a piggy play-land? Some guinea pigs like bricks, some like tunnels, some like both. Encourage your piggy's play-full spirit and set up an obstacle coarse, you can buy some cheap wooden bird toys like bells to hang on the roof of your cage, remember some guinea pigs don't pay particular interest in bird toys, keep trying until yo find out what your piggy loves. Some guinea pigs love to run round free, if you give them a few moments a day or week they'll love you for it. Here are some cheap ideas for your piggy land:
) Shoes boxes, or any other box with a door cut out for your piggy to go in or on top of
) Bricks made into a stair way or even a single brick, most guinea pigs love a bit of hight
) Got some wood under the house? Put it to good use, create ramps leading to platforms, wooden tunnels, practically anything!
) Concrete poles lying round your house? Piggies love these support these with two bricks so they don't roll and make a two-in-one play-thing
) Paper bag, haven't tried this but can be put on side tunnel-style.
These are just some of the amazing options for you to try out!

Guinea Pig City |
Get boxes and turn them upside down and cut little door ways, style each box to be a different building, think the bank, a mall, a supermarket, a book shop, a dairy, a post office, a bakery, you can change some of these to piggy language, instead of a bakery may be a 'pelletry'? The bank could have some money, print your piggies face and stick it onto some paper then decorate it to look like money. don't force your piggies to do anything, let them explore, though i'm sure they'll spend a lot of time in the fruit and veggie market! This is good learning for your piggies, they'll soon recognize what box in the market or pelletry, if the 'buildings' are in a single street layout then it'll be easier to change the 'buildings' around. If they are all decorated differently your piggy might soon remember which one has the fruit in it, it might be interesting to keep a journal. After a while add in more buildings, or even a 'playground' if you have baby piggies make a nursery in cute baby colours! Make a church for them to get married in even! You can make windows in your buildings just cut squares and either leave them like that or put clear cellophane over them! Then you can peek at your piggies while they have fun! Guinea Pig City can be combined with the piggy-playland idea, though this is more for your creativity, of coarse your piggies will love this city no matter how detailed you are!
