The Guinea Piggery

Where our animals come first

Welcome to The Guineapiggery

My name is Vicky and I live with my husband, daughter and of course my many animals.  Based in the little village of Mochdre, close to Colwyn Bay and the A55 in North Wales.  We currently have 21 guinea pigs and of course, our 2 hermans tortoise.

I breed and rescue guinea pigs, for my enjoyment more than anything else.   Rex have always been a favourite of mine, closely followed by Coronet and Sheltie's.  We have various baby and adult guinea pigs for sale from time to time - take a look at our 'guinea pigs for sale' page, or 'rescue' page to see what we have available.  Here at the Guineapiggery we only breed on a very small scale, we aren't a business - we do this from home in our own time for our own enjoyment.  We do vet prospective homes very thoroughly before any are sold or rescued.

Our two tortoise are called Earl and Shelley.  They are 3 years old so still only babies yet, but they are well and truly valued members of the family!  We started building tortoise tables when we couldn't find one that fit in the space in our lounge.  There isn't even anyone this area that will build one for us, so we ran out to the local DIY store, bought some timber and materials and knocked one up ourselves.  It wasn't until our friends saw our table and requested one for themselves that we thought about selling them.  Simon being from a family of cabinet makers and builders was already well equipped to make them to any specification so all ready to go!

RESCUE & REHOME I would never turn away an unwanted guinea pig and often have rescue pigs for rehoming - please see the link above for pigtures.  Our rescue & rehoming service has really taken off this year, and I would like to thank all the people who have kindly taken in guinea pigs from us, and without you they may have had no hope - thank you.  If you are in the position where you can no longer look after your guinea pig - please contact us.  We are now in contact with various guinea pig rescue's around the UK and are helping to rehome guinea pigs throughout the country.

THE BACKGROUND OF OUR GUINEA PIGS  Wave

When choosing our guinea pigs for breeding, we carefully choose guinea pigs from selected breeders, using only guinea pigs that carry no health issues, in hope that this will help prevent unneccassary health problems, and prolong the life of your guinea pig.

Here at the Guineapiggery we keep our guinea pigs in hutches with lots of space to popcorn around, we use hayballs, veggie skewers and chubes to prevent boredom.  Our guinea pigs enjoy a varied diet with lots of veggies, hay, alfalfa pellets (in moderation) and a dry mix.  Our guinea pigs all have hidey holes for when they want some alone time and they enjoy eating grass and dandelions in the summer.  Our breeding sows are bred at 6-8 months old and are retired at 4 litters or two years - then they enter our 'guinea pig hotel' where all our oldies live a very peaceful life in same sex pairs, or rehomed to loving forever homes.  There are a lot of unwanted guinea pigs in the world, and I like to think of myself as being a responsible breeder - I will stay in contact with you for the duration of your guinea pig's life with advice, and I will always take your guinea pig back if you change your mind at any point - we find homes for unwanted guinea pigs very quickly and he will soon be back with a loving family!

If you like my site, please leave me a comment in my guestbook - you are welcome to leave a link to your site on there.

Here is my bearded dragon - he is adorable and such a lively character.  He feeds on lots of fresh veg and insects and loves to catch house spiders!
