Boarding is available for guinea pigs only, you can bring your own housing or we can provide it for you. To help a guinea pig settle in, as any changes can be stressful, we do recommend you bring something familiar to the pig like a toy they like to hide in or their own housing etc.
We are small scale, home run boarding for guinea pigs. Which means your pets will be housed literally in our home, there are a limited amount of guineas that we will take at any one time so your pigs will get plenty of individual attention.
We supply the food. We feed Burgess Excel or Burgess depending on which one is available at the time but if you feed a different brand we recommend you bring your own to avoid any upset tums.
Guinea pigs are cleaned once a day, given fresh veg. dry food, unlimited hay and fresh water daily. We use newspapers and hay as bedding, no woodchips. Floor time is given daily or access to a large secure, sheltered run in fine, dry weather. All guinea pigs are housed securely in the house at night and not left outdoors.
If the weather is bad or if boarding in winter we will hand pick grass daily for your pig(s).
It helps to write down your guinea pigs details and bring them with you e.g. their age, any health issues in the past, what veggies they are used to and like etc. We will not accept any guinea pigs suffering from fungal skin infections or any other ailment as it could spread to other boarders or our own pets.
Please ensure your pig is in good health, we cannot be responsible for any health issues that may arise however if any guinea pig becomes ill during their stay we will take them to our vet to be looked after, any costs that arise will be passed on to the owner.
We are located outside Thurles Co Tipperary, 5 miles from the main Dublin/Cork road (M8/N8). We are under an hour from Kilkenny City and Portlaoise.
Boarding Costs (From April 2009 onwards).
One guinea pig - 5.00 Euro per day
Two guinea pigs housed together - 10.00 Euro per day
Three guinea pigs housed together - 12.00 Euro per day
Four guinea pigs housed together - 14.00 Euro per day
Any additional guinea pigs housed together add 2.00 Euro per pig. We may be able to offer a special rate if you have a larger number of pigs being housed together.
From 1st August 2008: A deposit is required upon booking of half the cost of the pets stay, should you need to cancel deposits will be refunded up to 7 days before the animals are due to arrive. After that time deposits are not refundable.
