Welcome to Guinea Pig Cottage Irish guinea pig care and boarding site.
While we realise there are some well run pet shops in Ireland, please don't buy guinea pigs and other small animals from pet shops if the shop is housing rabbits and guinea pigs together, is housing animals in cramped or filthy housing or have birds that are ill or have fish laying in the bottom of the tanks.Over the years we have had numerous complaints about guinea pigs and other small animals in pet shops all over the country, the laws regarding pet shops in Ireland is very vague at the moment, so there's not much we can do. If you find an animal suffering from illness or kept in cramped filthy conditions contact you local SPCA to log a complaint.
The best way you can help is to not support any shops who are selling sick or pregnant animals or animals housed in bad conditions, support the better, clean well run ones with staff that can offer you the correct care advice. Or buy pet supplies online or in hardware shops that don't sell pets. Hit them where it hurts in the wallet. Choose animals from rescues. You can make a difference.
If you are looking to adopt a pair of rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets or any other small animal please contact us as people contact us at times looking to rehome their pets.
There is a chain of petstores in Ireland that have continued to sell pregnant small animals, and they are also aware of this in some cases. Please try and avoid buying from stores like this and buy from a store that knows how to the animals and only sells happy healthy pets.

50 grids for sale, these grids usually used as a storage solution are very often used these days to build affordable guinea pig pen. These pens are known as C&C cages (just google C&C cages for more info.) and can be made into two/three story cages if there's a lack of space. Secured by the connectors (provided) and also with some cheap cable wires.
These can be a great solution when you can't find a cage to fit your room or a shop bought cage is too small. They can be lined at the bottom with coroplast or lino.
Please note these are not suitable for rabbits. You can use them to build a roof. These are suitable for guinea pigs only.
Of course also suitable if you would like them for building some storage as well.
The grids are black and some are grey.
Would work out too expensive to post as they come to approx. 15kg in total but can be collected.
Based near Thurles/Templemore/ under an hour from Kilkenny and Portlaoise, 5 miles from Urlingford.
Also have a pick up point in Co Wicklow that can be arranged.
€30.00 for the 50 grids plus connectors (extra connectors may be required if building a tall unit but are easily gotten online).
Link to some photos (4th and 5th pics) of ways to set up the cage/s.
