I have been involved with pottery for 31 years. It began as a hobby, and after 2 years I enrolled into Midland TAFE and completed a four year course in Arts and Ceramics.
In 1981 I was asked to join Guildford Village Potters. This was instrumental in my further growth due to the support and creativity the group fostered.
in the following years, I attended many workshops, which gave me inspiration and the techniques to refine my skills.
I work mainly in stoneware, producing raku, some sculptural and non functional pieces; however the majority of my work is functional for everyday use. it is very rewarding to know your work is used and appreciated by those that purchased it.

The first few years as a student I used Terracotta clay and threw garden pots to enhance my garden. Stoneware then became my medium, becoming disciplined in creating functional sets of high fired tableware; my favorite being the art of making teapots. World travel had me collecting pots glazed with the elusive crystalline glaze. After attending a workshop given by Ginny Conway from America in 2001 I changed my medium to fine porcelain and attempted to fire with these beautiful crystalline glazes. Teapots with this finish enabled me to win various ceramic art prizes . For relaxation and purely for fun I found I could also copy any animal and made them all by throwing the body on the wheel and finishing them by the hand-building technique. These animals range from tiny frogs to alpacas that stand four foot high. For many years I passed on my knowledge with teaching adults and children on the happiness it brings, to create through the art of pottery.
