Old Updates

My Latest Creations!

Sephora as Little Girl

The great Sephora, an artist and owner of Ship of Dreams, told me that she didn't get to wear a lot of frilly dresses as a little girl, so I dolled Sephora, as a little girl, in a frilly dress.  Or the best I could do.  The creation also doubled for the Easter parade challenge where we had create a doll with a hat, gloves, a bird, the color yellow, an umbrella, a basket, and flowers.  The base and props are all mine! I am impressed with that!  I also tried grass for the first time.  I am happy with the way Sephora came out.  The shading on the dress might have been better done, but I am happy with the hate and her lacey little gloves.  I was really happy with the way the props came out.  I think her shoes are cute too and I like how I did the flowers on her outfit.  Sephora, a dear friend of mine, deserves so much more than I could ever give her and she means the world to me---so this is just a small tribute.  Please don't adopt.

Brigid, Blessed Beltane

I am really proud of this creation.  I consider this to be one of my greatest creations, thanks to the inspiration and guidance of the good Goddess Mother.  Brigid is on my base and sort of inspired by Goddess of Wisdom Barbie.   My dolls inspired by the Goddess always turn out better.  The fire is in honor of the Beltane fires, but the butterfly a symbol of the earth awakening and new life.  She is adoptable of course.  I loved working on Brigid.  Since I was too busy to properly celebrate Beltane, this was my offering to the Goddess.  I am really pleased with the folds and her crown of flowers and the pattern--the whole doll!  Brigid is wearing a Goddess necklace, but you'd have to zoom in to see it. I think I used either Libby's and/or DHF's braid tutorial.  Sigh.  I do love her.  Blessed Be!

Rebekah, My Muse--Third Year Dolling Anniversary Remake

So the first doll is my third year dolling anniversary remake.  The second doll is my, yes!, second year remake.  The third doll I made on my first year anniversary.  And, the last little Rebekah is one of my first dolls ever---well my first doll that wasn't frankendolled.  I didn't know!  lol.  Anyway, I have come a long way!  Although, my latest Rebekah needs to have black, not grey hair.  Ugh.  I went for more high lights and washed the hair out.  Me and black hair.  I really like her jeans and the boots.  I think they are better than last year.  I also like the subtle wrinkles in her top and the added crystal.  This year I wanted to make Rebekah on my base, so that is my big coup. I still referred to DHF's jeans and hair tutorial.  And I referred to Libby's top tutorial. I like her--she just needs darker hair.  Se has had sass from the first time I made her!  You've come a long way, baby!

Bases in order: me, DHF, Wayuki, Xandorra (site down)

Lilac, Gift for Rain

Lilac didn't tell me at first that she was a gift for My Sister, Rain, but when she did tell me, I was happy!  I love the folds on the skirt, that seems to be my fold style at the moment.  I also adore the ruffles---those came out well!  I made the wings by referencing--gasp!--a real dragonfly.  I like the subtle veins.  Her hair style gave me a bit of a struggle, but I really am happy with what I settled on.  I like working on a doll with one or two colors.  The little bow really touches off the ruffles.  The third version of her has lighter shading, because I couldn't decide which one I liked better.  But, I think I prefer the darker shading.  Looking at her makes me happy!  She is on my base and she was a lot of fun to make!

Summer, for Summer Solstice

I am thrilled with the way Summer came out.  I had wanted to doll this dress for a long time, but was very intimidated by it.   I made a whole and sectioned outlines of the dress and then shaded it in sections, which was easy to my surprise.  I am happy with the folds too.  She didn't tell me at first what she wanted in her hands, but once she did, it fell into place.  Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, celebrating the sun, so the gold and rubies are in honor of the sun.  Her necklace is supposed to imitate the rays of the sun.  I really like her gladiator sandals too and her nut brown hair.  The traditional garb for Summer Solstice is white druid robes, but I wanted something colorful.  The intricate pattern on the real dress didn't work on Summer, so I added a subtle pattern to the hem.  She is wearing a traditional flower crown.  Again, she was inspired by and an offering to the Goddess---because of this she came out beautifully! She was ever so much fun to make! Blessed Be!

Lilith, The Alchemist

This doll was made for Haneul's Alchemy contest.  At first I was stumped, but watching Johnny Depp's Sleepy Hollow rather inspired me.  And, this dress here.  She is on my base, although I used Solace's Meadow's pattern.  The props are mine too!  It was suggested that I make the base of the book stand bigger, and that is true.  I may do that at some point.  I want to release my props, so before I do that, I will fix the base.  I referenced DHF's and Haich's cauldrons for my own.  I am really happy with the way she came out.  She is so dark and mysterious.  Alchemy is the ancient art of attempting to turn lead into gold, but it was also a search for immortality.  Apparently, ancient alchemy added quite a bit to modern chemistry.  Who woulda thunk?  You can find out more about alchemy here.  I am realy pleased with her dress--the folds are very clean.  She is wearing a necklace that is the alchemy symbol for gold. Lilith is on the quest for immortality.  I chose to style her hair in a Victorian manner---she was a rebel of a Victorian woman!  I like the ananchoristic contrast though.  I am happy with my props!  I did that!  lol  And, the floor!  I did that too!  I ratherly amazed myself with this doll.  I can do a lot more than I think.

Amaltheia, Healing Faerie

Amaltheia in Greek means "to soothe," which is the perfect for this doll.  For the first week of summer I was very ill because I was detoxing from some very serious, but very legal medication.  I was a mess physically and emotionally--I couldn't even look much at the computer.  And, the prayers of my family, dear friends, especially those at Ship of Dreams and Rain, truly helped me heal.  I am free of the medication now and feeling like myself, mostly.  I truly and most sincerely believe that the prayers of those who love me helped me through.  This doll is just a small token of my appreciation to those people.  She was very soothing to make, and the first doll I made after my detox.  I am rather happy with how she came out.  Faeries are always working in the unseen, sometimes seen world, to help us mortals.  These faeries are buoyed by the prayers of us.  She is holding a lotus flower, a symbol of healing.  She is in some ways my faerie self after the storm, when the sun has come out.  She is wearing a Brigid cross, but it's hard to tell.  She is on my base, but I was inspired by Shana and one of her dolls for the wings.  She is made up of pretty simple elements, but she is powerful and grateful.  Blessed be.  Please don't adopt unless you were given her.
